Psoriatic Arthritis Total Approach to Health
Live in style tips

The following tips will keep you looking your best.

General Style Tips for Women and Men

Layers are no sweat. Layer your clothing so you are better equipped to regulate your body temperature, and also cut down on perspiration.

Think cotton. A soft, cotton t-shirt or shell is a perfect first layer of clothing, as it allows you to keep moisture away from your skin. Also, cotton liners inside gloves provide an extra barrier against chafing, cold and perspiration.

Camouflage flakes. When choosing clothing, remember that light colors and patterns typically hide flakes better than dark colors.

Get ready in the evening. Morning stiffness and fatigue are common in people with psoriatic arthritis, making it difficult to get up and go. If possible, prepare for your coming day the night before, when symptoms are not as bothersome (i.e., setting out your clothes, packing items for work, making your lunch) to help make the morning routine easier.
Adaptive Tools Available to Help with Dressing

Invest in a "reacher." A "reacher" or hand grip tool can help you pick up items with greater ease and without bending or stretching.

Shoehorns are helpful. Shoehorns can help you to put on socks and shoes.

Zip it up. Zipper pull and button devices are designed to help people with joint pain fasten buttons and pull zippers.

Go online. Visit RACatalog.com for a range of helpful assistive tools such as the Easy Pull Sock Aid and EZ Shoe on Reacher.
