Insurance and healthcare

Learning to be your own best advocate is critical when choosing and working with an insurance company. The healthcare you receive throughout your life can greatly impact your quality of life. Patients and their medical providers often interact with insurance companies to make claims for treatment, appeal denials or work through procedures. Since many new treatment options are expensive, patients often meet with resistance from their insurance companies when they are first prescribed a particular therapy.

The resources provided here will help you advocate for yourself to ensure that you obtain the treatment you need. The National Psoriasis Foundation cannot offer legal advice or comment on specific insurers; the health plan your company contracts with an insurance provider will determine the type of coverage you will have.
