The first annual National Psoriasis Foundation Local Lobby Week, Aug. 15-19, 2005, was a successful grassroots campaign that raised awareness about psoriasis in Congress and in communities across the nation. During Local Lobby Week, 97 volunteers from 30 states and the District of Columbia visited congressional offices in their communities and dropped off important information about psoriasis.
Local Lobby Week is a result of the momentum that was generated during Capitol Hill Day in April and provided an opportunity to speak directly to lawmakers about psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis. This sort of first-hand, personal communication from constituents really makes an impact on members of Congress, and anyone can do it! No political experience is required. It just takes a brief amount of time and a committment to educating Congress and the public about psoriasis and how it impacts us and the communities in which we live. Please plan to participate in Local Lobby Week during August 2006!
