Dress—National Volunteer Leadership Conference
Dress casually and please dress in layers, as the air conditioning inside the hotel may fluctuate and be too cold for your comfort. Hotel air conditioning never seems to be "just right." We will try to make things as comfortable for everyone as possible, but please come prepared for these kinds of climate changes.
Please remember that the weather in Arlington in June will be hot and humid. The daily high temperatures can exceed 85 degrees. Please bring light clothing and comfortable walking shoes to explore the city.
Dress—Capitol Hill Day
It is possible that you will be doing quite a bit of walking so please wear comfortable shoes. Business casual attire is the appropriate dress for meeting with members of Congress and their staff. For men, there is no need to wear a suit and tie (although that’s not a problem if preferred); slacks and blazer/jacket are fine. For women, a pant suit, skirt and jacket/sweater, or anything along those lines are appropriate.
Meals
Your conference registration includes a Sunday night reception (substantial appetizers), Monday continental breakfast and seated lunch, as well as Monday night's Mix & Mingle with light appetizers.
Special needs
The Psoriasis Foundation will make advance arrangements for conference attendees who need extra assistance or have special dietary needs related to a disability. Please notify Heather Miller immediately to discuss any special arrangements you may require.
If you are traveling with children
There is a youth track planned for the conference. These sessions will be staffed and parents are not required to attend with their children. During session breaks, exhibit hall hours, meals and other events, however, parents are fully responsible for their children.
Exhibit Hall and welcome reception
The 2011 National Volunteer Leadership Conference and Capitol Hill Day will officially kick off Sunday night with a reception for the whole family.
This is also your first chance to visit with exhibitors and learn more about new services.
You will receive a bag of free sample products from various companies. Make sure to pick one up with you check in at the registration booth.
Monday evening Mix & Mingle
The Conference portion of our event will officially end at 5:30 p.m. on Monday evening, but we suggest you stick around to enjoy complimentary light appetizers at the Mix & Mingle directly after the Capitol Hill Day training.
