July 2009

The days are heating up and so is psoriasis advocacy. Grammy-award-winning singer LeAnn Rimes returned to Washington, D.C., on July 8 to advocate for psoriasis research. We joined LeAnn on Capitol Hill, working our way through 11 meetings with members of Congress. LeAnn commanded attention with her clear message to lawmakers that we need greater government investment in psoriasis research. Join LeAnn in advocating for a cure by visiting your members of Congress while they are home in August. Need a little inspiration? View our gallery of LeAnn's second visit to Capitol Hill.

Don't forget: Meet your members of Congress at home

Anyone who's serious about changing public policy should circle August on the calendar as a time to connect with elected officials while they are home on congressional recess. Consider August as a time for"field research" for members of Congress—they want and need to hear from you! Consider attending a town hall meeting or set up an appointment locally this summer and ask your members of Congress to co-sponsor the Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Research, Cure and Care Act (H.R. 930/S. 571).
