Capitol Hill Day is around the corner. The amount of people signed up (that I am aware of) is pathetically low. This is a real opportunity for us to make a difference. We need everyone’s help and support. Please try and make it a priority to attend. We need more research funding and we need more awareness. This is our chance to make a positive impact!

I can't make it because of the move, but my letters are out to my reps.

There is no question I will be there. If I am breathing I will get to Washington. I am looking forward to meeting the hundreds and hundreds of new members who wil be attending the second annual Capital Hill Day.

I only wish it was hundreds and hundreds. BUt every one there is important. The more offices of represenatives and senator we visit the more your cause gets know.

Be there.

Would love if you could employ some of your Jedi Mind Tricks to get more people involved!

Effective tricks are Jedi minds, Luke! I didn't think we'd have much hope in getting folks from our support group motivated for CHD all the way from California, but it looks like one is definitely coming, and another is seriously considering it! And of course, I will be there. Maybe if our numbers are large enough, we can use the Force on Congress!

crazy world we live in when we can find time to post silly stories and pictures and argue, but can't take the two seconds to vote in this thread or become more involved.

Okay Okay! I really really want to go, and I'm willing to shell out the $50 for the registration!

Hollis: Can you still grab an extra plane ticket courtesy of Melissa?

If so, I can go!

(Being a broke college student is terrible)

Oh man! I am so excited!

It was great meeting Krista, Charlie, Jen, Hollis, Kalai, and Ann so far, and I look forward to meeting more of you guys in the future. It's a wonderful feeling knowing you're not alone, AND THEN meeting those people! If I can make it out to the convention, I will honestly cry at the sight of everyone. =)

Good lookin out Krista!

Believe me, you won't be the first one to cry when you share the burdens of this disease with others, and learn that you are not alone. :) There have been many happy tears shed as some of us have met and gotten to know one another. I hope to get a chance to meet you as well. We have some wonderful people here.

I'm afraid I've been a bit remiss in not throwing my vote in here, so I'll remedy that right now. I will be at CHD, wouldn't miss it for the world, and will be writing my letters as well. I've never been involved in the political arena, but I'm certainly willing to learn. I have become passionate over this issue in a way that I never knew I could. I want to see funding for help in finding something that will work for all of us, particularly the innocent children who suffer with these diseases, and I will do anything I possibly can to promote that cause.

Let's make our presence known with our government in any way we can. For those of you who can't attend to tell your stories in person, please be sure to write your representatives. Together, our voices can be very strong!

I'm afraid that I can't go to CHD. I'd actually love to, though. It's extremely difficult to get days off from the post office where I work. But I have written my letters and I do encourage everyone to write their letters as well. It is so important. I have seen more revelations, more discoveries about this disease in the last few years than I have seen in the first 20 years of my life. If funding is cut... it's like taking a step back... maybe two steps back. Please, if you can't be in Washington, D.C..... at least write your letters. It's for our benefit. It really is. Please.

Thanks.

Joe,

You are awesome!! :) :) You have given so much to this community with your book project, and opening up your heart and feelings to share with all.

It's understandable that not everyone can attend, but the letter writing is so important too! I'm disappointed and ashamed of anyone who chooses to simply say "I will not attend CHD". :( It shows a lack of support for a cause that is important to all of us, and is selfish and childish.

I just saw this thread. You know how hard it is trying to follow the controversy of the moment. I see that Melissa has seen this thread and perhaps has responded to Michelle's request? If not I have emailed both of you.

By the way, Charlie Berger will be at CHD as well! I spoke with her when I picked up the UVB panel and she confirmed that she will be there on an extended stay since her daughter is in Boston.

I won't be attending due to work, however I always write (well, email) my reps anyway, regardless of a certain event or not. You've gotta bug the crap out of them all the time to get them to consider anything... lousy politicians :)

Steve, very creative way to start the thread. I can't make it because my mom and dad are coming that week. I was planning on it. I forgot to tell them before they got their tickets. I will have my letter in. I have a few family members writing too and getting involved.

Hey Eric a great idea a sightseeing weekend (Sunday & MOnday) in Washington would be a great way for a couple of folks from Oregone to enjoy our nation's capital and can help make a difference. Maybe a side trip would be great?

Just messing with you my friend. But its a great idea.

For those who were not aware, I just wanted to point out that this is a public poll. If you are interested to see who voted for which, just click on one of the blue numbers to the right of the options.
