View Full Version : I got a phone call!

Hi everyone,

Well I got a response to one of my letters yesterday. When I wrote them (the CHD letters, I mean) and was looking up the addresses for my House and Senate reps, they also had the State senators and reps, so I threw in a letter to them as well. I realize the funding is more of a federal issue, but I thought, you never know, maybe one of these State guys went to high school with Sensenbrenner's (our congressman) wife or something, ya know? Mother's brother's boss's wife's shoe-shiner's dog... ;)

Anyway, the phone call I got was from WI State Senator Ted Kanavas' assistant or somebody (should've taken the name, but I was caught a little off-guard, expecting a form letter, not a phone call!). He was talking about how they don't have much say in this kind of thing, but he said he did contact our DHS about it. Sounds good to me!

He probably doesn't have much push, I'm thinkin, but hey, a step in the right direction!

PS this is kind of a minor detail, but it just occurred to me that I didn't include my phone number in the letter I sent him. I'm feeling pretty good thinking this guy even took the time to look up my phone number, it's not even listed under my name!

This is a good thing and you should really feel good about it.

Say, Mari...

That's just awesome!!! Some of the folks have started a petition drive. We need 20,000 signatures to present to Capitol Hill.

I can send you and anyone copies of it if you'll just PM me.

So far... my Senators and Representative have not responded to my letters...

...but, I'll keep you posted if I get any!

Again, Mari... Awesome job!! That's terrific!!!

Blessings,
Joe

I'm sorry, but I'm not in total agreement about the Great side of this!..........
It's wonderful that you recieved a response, but did you stop to think about how the response came about?

This isn't disturbing to you?

It would scare the sh-- out of me! If your phone isn't listed in your name, where did that call originate and how did they find you! You don't seem to be bothered by that.
I have a problem with "Big Brother" knowing too much.

Hi,

No that doesn't really bother me, Margaret. Just about anybody can find out just about anything on anyone, it's really gotten out of control. But, there's hardly anything you can do to change it. So, I say just deal with it. I'm not being naive here, I realize all that can happen, but the information is out there, and available, especially to govt officials. Really, what can ya do?

Don't worry, guys, I have my petitions and have started getting them out to my family and friends who are helping me collect signatures. Hopefully we will blow by 20,000.

Margaret,

If you have registered to vote, then your elected officials can access your phone number. Or perhaps they just looked Mari up in the phone book...
