Dear friends and fellow sufferers,

I am writing you to ask for your help. A group of us was started a nationwide petition drive to ask congress for additional funding for National Institutes of Health and to increase funding in particular to the National Institute of Arthritis, Muscoloskeletal and Skin Diseases. Steve (Makeitgoaway) has posted the thread and very few have responded. I am perplexed as to why?

I don’t understand why more members have refused to respond let alone help. It is a way to be responsible for our own disease. We are all members of the National Psoriasis Foundation and they do a GREAT job working, educating and advocating for us but that can’t be the only obligation we have to ourselves to fight this disease?

The National Psoriasis Foundation has told us that they need at least 20,000 thousand signatures on the petition to be on help to them. That is less than one signature from every member. We need help gathering those names. Why can’t we get fifty, one hundred thousand signatures or more? If everyone just got his or her friends, family, and co-workers to sign the petition that numbers would be huge!

So what is stopping people from helping? Why can’t you spend a few hours getting those signatures. The more people involved in this effort the bigger the outcome! The National Psoriasis Foundation has reviewed the petition and they have made suggestions that we gladly incorporated into its body of the petition. It would be so self-empowering to be able to know that you had a part in the process that can and will make a difference.

Theodore Roosevelt once said, “criticism is necessary and useful; it is often indispensable; but it can never take the place of action, or be even a poor substitute for it. It is the doer of deeds who actually counts in the battle for life and not the man who looks on and says the fight ought to be fought, without himself sharing the stress and danger”. In this case there is no stress or danger just the satisfaction of knowing you have helped. So why not help. Be part of the solution! Be a doer and help us fight the fight. Don’t be an outsider in this fight!

I hope that I can e-mail the petition to many of you. If you don’t have e-mail I will gladly mail a copy to you. It really isn’t a big effort for you to help. Every signature helps us. Even if you can only get five, ten, twenty a hundred it doesn’t matter. Please, please helps us and together we can make a difference!

Thanking you in advance.

Hi Mitch,

I got my petition from Steve. I PM'd him instead of posting to the boards. Maybe lots of other people did the same?

Jen-

Thanks again for your willingness to help. Unfortunately, to date only 9 people have requested it from me. I have checked with the rest of our group and collectively, they have only sent out 4-5 more. I wish more would try to help. As Mitch stated if each participant even gets 5 or 10 signatures, that's 5 or 10 more then we had yesterday. Every little bit will help.

Again, thanks for your willingness to help!

Thanks Mitch. We will be collecting signatures from individuals at our poker tournament on Saturday and I will make sure everyone else in the group has the info if they desire or have the opportunity to followup on their own.

It blows my mind that we have not received more requests.

"The Lord helps those who help themselves" Here is a chance for everyone to help themselves

(By the way love the TR quote Mitch, he is one of my idols. BULLY!)

Hi,

I got mine about a week ago and have been collecting names with everyone that comes to my house. I'm going to try to get more printed up and take them to doctors offices and pharmacies. I urgre other member to send a note to anyone from the above list and try to get as many signatures as possible. It's so easy to do and will help so much. Please don't delay and sent a message to get the petition, in the long run you are helping not only others with p and pa, but yourselves!!

Sandy :)

Mitch,

I requested a copy of the petition on the 23rd and i haven't received anything yet.

If you sent it i didn't get anything.

Wouldn't it be more efficient to upload it somewhere for everyone?

Just a suggestion. I can upload it for you if you could get it to me somehow.

I will PM you again with another email address to send to

Thanks

I posted a petition yesterday at work, and have almost 30 signatures already!!
Plus I sent several out to my family members (that'll be about 30 more) and one to my best friend who I know will get as many signatures as she can. Plus all my other friends who've agreed to sign it - that's another 20 or so.
I'm taking a few to my derm's office as well, although I'd be totally shocked if he didn't have them plastered up everywhere already.
Wahoo!

Thanks Jen great job. As Jen has show it is not a difficult task to help. If everyone would take a petition and just get friends, family and coworkers the number would be astronomical.

Please PM me with an email address and will gladly forward a petition to you. Please Help!

Another bump in the night. How about getting some more petitions out there, people? It's in all of our best interests! If you don't know how to send a pm to request one, just post a message here, or pop into chat. We'll find a way to get one to you!
