I have received one response so far from the letters I sent. It is from the "Downstate Director" from Barack Obama. Many of you may remember Barack Obama as the new, up & coming Senator from Illinois who was a featured speaker at the Democratic National Convention last year.

I told him about CHD and our own seminar we are having here on March 31st.

The letter states this...

Thank you for your recent invitation to Senator Barack Obama. He is pleased and honored by the opportunity to attend the public seminar on psoriasis.

Unfortunately, due to scheduling conficts, he is unable to join you at this time. As a United States Senator, Senator Obama's office receives hundreds of offers to attend throughout Illinois and around the country. Given these demands, it is simply not possible to accept all of the important invitations like yours that we receive.

Please accept our best wishes for a successful event, and thank you for including Senator Obama in your plans.

Well, I'm not surprised. But, I'm glad I at least got a repsonse. I'm pretty certain that Senator Obama didn't even see the letter personally, but I tried. I still have three other letters out there waiting for a response.

Glad you at least got a response with the word psoriasis in it. Every letter helps. You are an important voice for us in Illinois (I remember your great tv interview some months ago).

Thanks for all you do in the name of P.

Perhaps you could write back and thank him for responding. Then ask if there is a more convenient time that he would be able to meet with you in his local office. Keep pushing!

Great job!

Thanks, guys.

Great idea, Steve! I'll try a follow-up thank you for responding letter.

Wow, you remember the interview, Krista? That was almost exactly 1 year ago. I'm trying to get on again here in a few weeks to promote the upcoming seminar. I'll let you know how it goes...I'm trying everything I can do locally to educate about P and PA!

Great job. Steve's suggestion it 100% correct. Even if you don't get a chance to meet with the senator I am sure you will be able to get an appointment with a senor meber of his staff who deals with health care.

Keep up the good work.

That's great Kevin! Other than that phone call I got (from the state senator [not a bigwig]) I am still waiting to hear back from my letters. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the link, Mike. You must have links hidden everywhere to pull out at a moments notice..... :D

I hope to be able to post a new interview by the end of the month. I'm now scheduled to be interviewed on Wednesday, March 30 at our local ABC affliliate - I'll plug CHD if at all possible. I remember the last interview was about 2 minutes tops - not very long.

I'm also working with a local radio station to run some commercials. I'll share those when they are done, too.
