During Local Lobby Week, you can speak out about psoriasis in your own community, correcting the common misperceptions and prejudices that many people have about psoriasis. It's also a chance to raise awareness in Congress about psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and the importance of research.

August is Psoriasis Awareness Month (http://www.psoriasis.org/events/pam), and we've designated Aug. 15-19 as Local Lobby Week. The U.S. Congress traditionally goes on recess in August, meaning that senators return to their home states, and representatives to their home districts, to meet with their constituents. This makes it a perfect time to raise awareness in Congress and in your community about psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and the importance of research.

Any chance that the NPF will put together an automated letter again? We could let the legislators know about August being Psoriasis Awareness Month and Local Lobby Week, Aug. 15-19. I think this will help ensure our message gets through loud and clear.

Just a passing thought, but if there is anyone out there from the 12th District in NJ (Representative Rush Holt) please PM me. It might be more effective if a small (or large) group of us visit Rep. Holt's office to deliver this very important message.

Cheers
Tim

Hi,

I just received a call from Senator Hillary Clinton's office in Rochester, NY and have made an appointment to talk to her aide on Wednesday the 17th.

Also heard from Reprenative Randy Kuhl and although he will be in Ireral next week, they have my name down for an appointment as soon as he get's back.

Any one else want to go with me to either offices?I'll be stopping at Senator Charles Schumer's office the same time I'm at Clinton's office and drop materials off for him too. PM me if you are interested.

Well, I stopped by Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey's local district office this afternoon and didn't see Ms. Woolsey but talked to a staff assistant.
I had a nice conversation with him and dropped off all the material I had downloaded off the NPF and included a brief letter describing my life with psoriasis. It felt great to talk with him and give him some info on p....
now I am off to fly to Tokyo tomorrow.....I'm glad I was able to do this..it felt great! :D

aloha,

Hi everyone,

I just got back from a meeting with Sara Clark, the aide from Senator Clintons office. It went great. She's a really nice girl and we had quite a long talk. Her Grandmother has p and pa and had knee replacements.

Sara was very interested in all the aspects of p and pa and asked alot of qurstions. She will be giving Hillary Clinton all the information and said Senator Clinton is is favor of more reasearch with the NIH.

Sara also said if we need any help for Capital Hills Day in Feburary to please let her know and she'll do what she can.

I dropped of materials at Senator Charles Schumer's office also, as he's office was just around the corner.

Well, it looks like only one Congresswoman gets the material I downloaded from the NPF.....when I got in from Tokyo today, I was on my way to the city to stop by Senator Barbara Boxer's office, in uniform and all. Lo and behold there was an explosion in downtown San Francisco today and most of the streets were closed due to bomb squads and all. It was believed to only be a PGE "electrical mishap" but streets are still closed and I would not have been able to get through!
oh well, it was still nice to be able to talk to Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey's assistant and drop the material off before my trip to Japan a few days ago.

aloha,
Abby
