View Full Version : DQ Trigger... Duhhhh

OK So I am guessing the DQ Chocolate Extreme blizzard I had at lunchtime was the trigger for all of my itching in the last hour since I returned from my "sinful" indulgence. And (shame shame on me...) the chocolate truffle cake last night at dinner couldn't have possibly made things any better.

Please someone smack my hands and tell me never to do that again...

Other than an occasional dietary indiscretion I have been doing well on the diet. Just be forewarned that too many moderate treats spaced too close together are asking for trouble.

What a big dummy I am. ;)

I have been more diligent with the tanning bed and that seems to be staving off any flaring as far a redness and scaling. The itchies don't get any better, but at least I am looking better than last week.

I haven't been to DQ all summer. I told DH that I wanted to get a blizzard from every DQ in the country!

Not funny, you guys. That isn't even real ice cream.

No one will know but the bumps that grow on your rear end!

We're supposed to support each other here, not make each other salivate for chocolate syrup, laced with high fructose corn syrup.

About as good for you as a boiled hot dog. Or fries with gravy.

Yuuuucccckkkk!

OK - Sally, you just saved yourself.

I did far worse (looking down in shame). I went to DQ yesterday and had the Mushroom Cheesburger combo with fries and an ice tea, a six piece buffalo strips platter (also with fries) and an ice cream cone for desert. I just broke down.

...It was SO YUMMY though!! :)

I certainly was not suggesting that anyone follow my downward spiral. :o

I was using our support system here. You have to admit to a problem before you can begin to heal. I think I've got the decedance out of my system now and the focus is back where it should be.

Granny, Your pic is funny... My hair color is auburn! And don't worry, my penance is done and my son scolds me regularly when I reached for anything questionable.

Sorry Dulane, but I still like hot dogs even if they are the scourge of the meat processing floor. ;) Don't eat them, but I still like them.

Natalie its probably not the hotdog as much as the fixin's that goes on it.....
we have a woman that sets up her nice little hotdog stand on the corner of our courthouse in the center of town....my husband is crazy about her "Chicago style" hotdog......thank goodness she is only there during the warm months.....
anyway keep up the good work guys.....we all fall back once in a while....unfortunately my no-no's are sugar and milk (icecream is one combo :p ) and if I eat them I pay...and have for years (even before P)

Sally,

Did you ever consider that since your P is more under control, that you may have less food sensitivities than when you were tested for food allergies...awhile ago?

I know that my cousin's adopted young son had terrible food allergies, once upon a time (including anaphylactic reactions to peanuts), and now his doctor is trying to desensitize him to re-introduce some of those foods.

Food allergies occur when your body develops 'flags' to certain offensive foods. If the 'reason' disappears, after a while, the 'flag' may disappear, too.

Just a thought. And I wouldn't suggest re-introducing the foods for more than a year past when the symptoms disappear.

PS - Natalie, there is a wonderful chicken sausage you can now get at Costco, made in Chicago...all natural, no preservatives.

One variety has feta cheese and spinach. I don't eat alot of them, but 1 every couple of days shouldn't hurt, or for a family barbecue. Once in a while!

Dulane....I went off all those foods 12 of them for 2.5 months as suggested by the clinic and gradually added them back...soy, milk and sugar still give problems...the rest like chicken, broccoli, cauliflower, and eggs are fine....they said in order to not have them return eat the foods every 4 days.
My two sons both got desensitized for terrible inhalent allergies....one from the time he was 3 years old (hayfever and asthma) til he was 16...the other one was for 10 years........ugh.......what an ordeal.but both came out fine...the injections really helped...no sign now on either one of them. (p.s. they both smoke) how is that for a thank you! :(

Dulane,

I've seen the organic products in the produce section even at good old Wal Mart. I have looked at the packages and as soon as I see any iota of something not Pagano approved I set it back in the display. No wonder you have wondered why I make statement that I eat the same thing all the time!

I hope I never develop allergies to carrots, because that is my staple these days.

That and green beans. What will I do when summer ends?

I never had allergies in my life....(that I knew about) my DH and I used to accuse each other ( in a teasing manner) of giving the allergy gene to the boys! it turns out he and I both have P (got it late in life) and he just found out, after all these years, he can't eat eggs....I know our P and allergies are related....in looking back over the years I can also see P incidents with both of us only didn't have a clue what it was!
