Well today I did some searching on the web for info on glyconutrients...and found an intersting forum that discussed the various issues around the healing properties of these nutrients.........

I have decided to post a link to an incredible story of one of those healings....
whether you believe it or not or whether you want to disavow it is up to each and everyone of you....there are so many people in this world that need help, perhaps you know someone that could read this and find the answers they are looking for.And this is just one story...there are many more!

i have been on curezone many times. be leary beause some hucksters try to sell their stuff in the guise of "it worked for me". i was duped myself. they are very into liver flushes, and some are promoting urine therapy. while i have read very good things about it, just the thought of it, ick! natalie

My very best friends daughter tried talking me into urine therapy....I said "nope!!! I draw the line at some point ...and this is that point" this was several years back....before I found my own solution..... ;)
But anyway I was wondering about the glyconutrients?
One other person on here was interested, in fact got me interested, so we got a group together.....and made up a batch from a recipe....and I started taking mine yesterday.....I'm hoping to get rid of scalp P plus some other minor things.......I've talked to other people taking these nutrients, read two books, and listened/watched a dvd.....sounds very promising!

i wish you the best of luck with the glyconutrients. if im not mistaken, i believe you made up your own batch and are not using the mannatech brand. if you see results-i will try it too. natalie

sally- i found a product from jordan rubin (the guy who wrote the maker's diet). it's called rm-10. it is something akin to glyconutrients. it is also supposed to help with autoimmune disease. it costs 34.95 for 120 pills. something to keep in mind, i guess. by the way, where did you find all the ingredients for your glyconutrient mix? natalie

Natalie...Dulane mixed it up for some of us that were interested....so she went web shopping and found all the ingredients....I added some mannose to mine, since I wanted some of this to mix in for a lotion I was making...it is aloe freeze dried into a powder...thought it would be good for lotions, and a mix for my scalp! and just handy to have......

then to find the other ingredients go to this site where she lists them all

I think it is in the third post.......

I'm on my second day.... :p
got my DH to take it cause I have a brochure that shows the NFL endorsed it after seeing such good results on their players.... :p ;)

one of the questions someone asked on curezone was "has anyone seen any good results with the glyconutrients and leaky gut?"

this is one answer:

My personal opinion based on the research of these substances is that they are the IDEAL treatment for leaky gut/candida.

Arabinogalactan has been shown to increase bifidobacteria and acidophilus even without the addition of these organisms. This also means that they are increasing these organisms which are attached to the gut wall, where these organisms have their greatest benefit. These organisms have anti-candidal activity which is why people recommend supplementation with these, but oral acidophilus is only beneficial while you are taking it because it stays in the opening of the colon and doesn't easily attach to the walls. Only the stuff attached to the walls has a prolonged beneficial effect.

Arabinogalactan and these other soluble fibers in these supplements have also been shown to significantly increase Short-Chain Fatty Acids (SCFA - butyrate, propionate, acetate, etc.) which are toxic for many opportunistic organisms including candida, clostridium difficile and others. These substances are also energy sources which have been shown to increase the healing of the colon wall, and indirectly the small intestine wall as well. Butyrate, for example is the main energy source for colonocytes, and is potently anti-inflammatory and in lab studies can turn colon cancer cells into normal colon cells. Cool stuff.

Besides increasing the SCFA, these substances have been shown to significantly decrease the ammonia content of the colon. Ammonia is a by-product produced by certain bacteria as they metabolize protein. Unfortunately ammonia is also a fertilizer, and well...Candida is a plant and thrives on the stuff. So by decreasing the ammonia it not only decreases the irritating effects on the gut walls, but also starves the candida.

Soluble fibers (which these are) have been shown to have a healing effect on the small intestine wall, and they also increase the secretion of cholecystikinin (CCK), which increases the production and secretion of digestive enzymes from the pancrease, which increases the efficiency of digestion, and increase in absorption of necessary nutrients.

Combinations of more than one kind of soluble fiber have been shown to increase SCFA's better than the individual fibers, and that may be another benefit of the combination found in these supplements. Also, the structure of some of these soluble fibers have been shown to stimulate and activate the immune system by receptors that are found on the intestinal wall (2/3 of the immune system surrounds the human intestines) and that may also have an effect in healing the gut.

Also, these substances have been shown to increase the activity anti-oxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase) in the liver which improves the livers detoxifying capacity and decreases the negative chemicals which get released into the general circulation:

Another benefit of these substances over other prebiotic substances like fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) is that FOS is almost completely metabolized in the first part of the intestine. The combination of different sized soluble fibers found in supplements like Ambrotose, allows their effect not only in the Cecum (First section of the large intestine), but the larger more complex chains are metabolized by the microorganisms slower, and so much of their benefit will be found farther down the large intestine as well. This is something that is talked about on the International Society of Probiotics and Prebiotics site.

To recap:

-Increases production of beneficial bacteria
-Decreases amount of opportunistic organisms- including candida
-Decreases ammonia -(gut irritant and yeast food)
-Increases constant production of SCFA's (energy source, stimulates healing, anti-candidal, etc).
-Increases CCK - better digestion, more nutrient absorption
-Decrease intestinal inflammation (immune effect, effect of SCFA, and probably a direct effect as well)
-improves liver function - decrease amount of xenobiotic chemicals that enter the body
-and much more, but you get the idea.

For example, it is interesting to note that there have been a significant amount of research papers addressing intestinal permeability and Autism. It may very well be that the reported beneficial effect of these supplements in Autistic children is secondary to improving gut integrity and restoring normal intestinal function, which decreases the amount of exorphin-like substances that are absorbed and cause the symptoms. At the present time it is actually a more supportable hypothesis than the "essential sugar" hypothesis, which has no research to explain the relationship.

You can look up the references and information on the above information at the National Library of Medicine's PUBMED site, or if you have any questions about any specific part, I can try and list them for you.

Hey,

Here is another link to a great story about how glyconutrients saved someone from Toxic Shock Syndrome!

hey Sally
how are the glyconutrients going? Any improvements? I have given some thought to trying it myself for general health and to see if it helps in any way for my psoriasis...I not only battle P, but also have to deal with pcos. I am currently trying a new cream I found on ebay that is supposed to be for acne and eczema...but Ive found it seems to be helping the scaling on my scalp as well. It contains sulpher I believe. If it keeps working I will let you know. I think I may switch over to trying aloe capsules as well, rather than drink the liquid form which is one of the better brands out there (but not the best taste.) Ive seen a few comments about the pills working for some. The glyconutrients interest me though. Apparently you can make them yourself for alot less than you can buy them from some companies, but I havent researched that at all.

Hi Moon....I have just been on the glyco one week so it is too soon to tell....I noticed in one article that Dulane posted that the doctor gave glyco to his patient intravenously....

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2001/Apr-22-Sun-2001/living/15843088.html

but that was an extreme case.......anyway he started getting better right away....on a very high dose!
I'm on 1 teaspoon once a day....so it might take a while...I am keeping a journal in Microsoft Word just for my own satisfaction.....
So far after one week I don't notice anything....but some things may be going on that I'm not aware of....inside................................. :D
I can email you the recipe if you are interesed
I'll PM you my email.....
the recipe is all over the net....I think the best one is by Dr Bird an M.D. who came up with the same formula as the company that sells it as Ambrotose
here is some media validation also....

here is a heart warming link to some happy children now!

http://www.livingsugars.com/stories.htm

I had written to a member of the Mannotech group(?), that is on another forum, on whether she heard if the glyconutrients had helped clear anyone with psoriasis......she wrote back and said she was working with someone that just recently started the Glycos......she gave me this link because of the child with the skin rash (unidentified rash) and told me she would keep me informed if there was progress!
