"The gut is a huge immune organ; there are more immune cells in our gut than there are in the rest of the body put together. This [new] work is showing very nicely that if, in fact, we keep this short-chain fatty acid transporter healthy, we then can keep the whole immune system healthy."
A quote by Dr Robert Martindale, gastrointestinal surgeon

"Drug medications consists in employing, as remedies for disease, those things which produce disease in well persons. Its materia medica is simply a lot of drugs or chemicals or dye-stuffs; in a word poisons. All are incompatible with vital matter; all produce disease when brought in contact in any manner with the living; all are poisons."
R.T. TraIl, M.D., in a two and one half hour lecture to Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.

The good Dr. Goldstein recognizes the fact that many alternative methods for a multitude of diseases and conditions have real merit as viable medical treatments. However, there is also a darkside to the alternative methods of healing and the critically acclaimed Quackwatch (http://www.quackwatch.org/) is a good source of information for those that wish to enlighten and protect themselves and their loved ones from the scammers and charlatans that have imbedded themselves into this all too often taken for granted form of medical healing.
"I also urge any patient seeking "new" or alternative therapies, or has been given a recommendation that seems "too good to be true", to first check the link to Quackwatch (http://www.quackwatch.org/)." - Robert A. Goldstone, M.D., P.A. (http://orthodoc.aaos.org/RobertGoldstone/)

Hey yeah! What are we doing? Allowing companies to take perfectly good food and murder it? Process, prepare, for convenience? Deep fry it, add salt, dehydrate it, add CO2, add artificial sweetners, colour and preservatives, wrap it in plastic and then offer it on sale at the grocery store!
A lot of the stuff we are eating today just wasn't around a decade ago!
Makes you think, huh?

How I wish that were true. But when you start to realize that many alternative methods focus on cleansing the liver and improving it's function, and that many pharmaceuticals are indeed toxic and taxing on the liver, now you understand why it is often a conflict of interest.
A doctor friend of mind likened it to vacuuming a room at the same time someone keeps spilling cereal all over the floor. Your constantly playing catch up, you'll never get ahead, your improvement would be slow if it all, most likely you'd just be treading water until your body just gets to tired of the whole darn thing.

In the movie "Lorenzo's Oil", The parents of an ALD child (Adrenolukodystrophe) (Not know if it's spelled right) researched for years on their own about this very subject. They found a CURE in olive oil. (trans-fatty c24-c26) It has helped their son quite a bit in the last 10 years. I recently started increasing my olive oil just on my own to see what would happen. ~Hey, it can't hurt. No change yet so we will see how it goes. My q is, Has anybody else tried this yet? Did it work for you? I am hoping it mught help ,my p clear up, and maybe help with pa a bit. Let me know if I am right or wrong on this. Thanks guys! a.

The best six doctors anywhere
And no one can deny it
Are sunshine, water, rest, and air
Exercise and diet.
These six will gladly you attend
If only you are willing
Your mind they'll ease
Your will they'll mend
And charge you not a shilling.
