I need to know if anyone has this problem and could it be connected to the pa? Seems like my problems have gotten out of hand the last 3 months. August 1st I had a heart attack, and so must take more meds and now my p has started to come back and since I can't stop the meds I am back to greasing my self so I stick to the sheets. Oh,well since I sleep alone no one cares. But my burning feet keep me awake some nights and then I have to put my feet in ice water to be able to lay down. HELP Why? The docs don't have any answers. Hi Heide,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time lately. I haven't often had involvement with my toes (at least not what you are describing) but I have had to go to bed at night holding a gel pack in my hands because my fingers were burning. My thinking is that your recent heart attack may have been a trigger for P or PA. When my fingers flare, I get swelling and peeling and burning. It usually starts on my thumb and index finger, and then spreads along the digit and sometimes involves other fingers. IT is some of the most painful P and PA imaginable. Are you on any systemic medications for P or PA. HAve you had trouble with P or PA in these areas before? Is your skin peeling or visibly inflammed? What's your past history with P and PA? Sorry for all the questions, but the answers are probably relevant to the answer to your question. What topicals are you using on your feet? There is a link between systemic inflammation and heart attacks--it's been a long time since I read up on this so I can't really explain it at the moment. But I will try to look for the materials I've read on this important topic.

I hope you will post again, maybe we can help you and your doctor figure out this puzzle.

I have burning toes too. I soak in ice cold water before I get in bed. As with all symptoms of PA, it is at least of some comfort to know you are not alone or imagining these things.

My doctor told me burning feet can be caused by many things including diabetes. However, mine burn like crazy sometimes also. Soaking in icewater does help or putting a wet cloth in a ziplock baggie with ice inbetween the cloth helps me go to sleep. I keep it on my feet with a light pair of socks. It really helps a lot. Another good thing that helps too is to keep whatever moisturizer that you use in the frig so you have it nice and cold for when you're feet are burning.

Hi Heide,

Iam sorry you feel so bad but I thought I was losing my mind.

My feet burn like crazy also. I asked my doctor she told me she never

heard of it. Has anyone's doctor heard of it ? My doctor also tells me I tested

postitive for RA and Lupus but that the good news is they are all treated

with the same meds. Anyone else have simalar experience? My spine is also

affected I have had two spinal fusions in last 4yrs , before anyone tested me

for RA or Lupus. Sorry or so many questions I was just diagnosed 2 months ago.

 Well at least I know I am not the only one!!! I sure will try the ice water treatment and will tell my rhuey when I see him in a few weeks. Yes I have pa and my back has been hurting me when I sit for any long period of time, I am not on any special meds for the pa but hope to get some help when I see the doc. As long as I use plenty of cream and ointment I can keep the p under control. Sleeping seems to be a problem but it is not new so most of the time I can handle it. Thanks for all your help elaine
