Lately the pain from my PA in my knees has increased due to cold weather begining to set in along with the humidity that's rampant in Houston. I was thinking about asking my derm for some light pain killers for when the pain gets bad. I was wondering if anyone else currently or has taken pain medication for their PA.

Tugor,
Hi and nice to meet you. I wouldn't feel bad about asking your dr. for pain meds at all. Many of the meds given to treat pa take a while to start to help and pa can be quite painfull. I don't need it as much as I did when I first flared with pa, but I have it if I do need it. Some days I have no choice, and I know that there are many of us on this site that take them too. I did have to get mine from my family doc though, my derm is more concerned with my skin than the joints. I also see a rheumy. It was confusing at first, but now they are all on the same page with my treatment. I'm sorry you are in pain and I hope you can find relief soon. Do you take any other treatments? good luck and let us know how you do.

I do. I take codine and zanax to help me sleep when the pain is bad. I just
dont rely on it all the time. I wouldnt hesitate to ask.

My rheumy put me on Indomethecin. Which is an NSAID (basically a kind of Ibuprofen). It did take the edge of the pain for sure. I found out later it was one of the few NSAIDs that was shown to make psoriasis worse.
I know this sounds weird, I just stumbled upon it, but one thing I do that completely takes my PA pain away is taking minerals. About a year ago I started measuring the acidity of my urine and noticed that its acidity was off the charts. I started taking Ca Mg and Zinc until my urine was slightly alkaline. Turns out I have to take quite a bit. But the remarkable thing is the pa pain disappeared.
