Hi all I received some info from another psoriasis forum on this dietician's website....whom they had met at the Boston conf.
you might want to read through her site and check things out....I am sending her an email telling her about our forum...sounds like she is into the alternative type of clearing!.

I just heard from Deirdre
she also had added the allergy testing to her agenda
here in her words:
i've just started doing food allergy tests ("Alcat Tests") and consults based upon the results. could you please include this at your site, too...ie that i administer the Alcat test and provide consultations on how to devise a diet plan to eliminate allergens and heal the damage? the alcat is wonderful...a nurse comes to your home to take one drop of blood and then fed ex's the sample to the lab, so it's very convenient for my clients and accurately tests for 150 food allergens. yes, many people with psoriasis have significant allergy issues, just like i did before changing my diet. quality nutrition helps both skin and allergy issues. thank goodness! it's a lot less expensive than drugs and all the side effects are positive.

Sally,,,,sounds interesting. Did she say how much she will charge for a nurse to come and take the blood sample? One drop does not sound like enough.

I'm not sure about the nurse....maybe Deirdre will come on and answer that...anyone else have questions for her I'm going to post the lab that did my allergy blood test that my doctor recommended I do.

The test that I used was prescribed by my natureopath, and she gave me a kit. It cost $115.
I read the directions at least 10 times, because I didn't want to blow my $$$. They charge you $25 for a bad test, I guess they refund the rest, if it can't be read.
It had a little sticker tool. When it is 'loaded' you only get one chance. So you want to be brave and get a good finger prick, or ask for help from someone you trust. My natureopath would have done it, but it would have cost me more.
It all worked well. I'm allergic to kidney beans, oranges, sesame and goat milk. Go figure. I am at the low end, even with those foods. And yes, I had eaten all those things in the week before I tested. (What about peanut butter cookies and sugar?) I suspected I would test allergic to much more.
Am I lucky? I guess, but I still avoid the food items that Pagano and the elimination diets suggest.

I went to the docs office and they took a whole tube of blood......wonder if that was necessary....I like my precious blood and don't like to see it scattered worthlessly :D
I hope some of you have checked out Deirdre web site! She met davidk in Boston and he invited her to visit the MSN site on psoriasis........

I've had what seemed like several pints taken for other blood work. But for the food allergy test I took...you had to only get around 4-5 drops of blood.
You drop them on 2 sticks with small swabs on the end. Like a flat Q-tip. Then it has to air dry for 15 minutes before you put it in its tiny baggie to be sent off.
Even I could do it!

Sally,,,,,,eat all your green stuff and your body will bebuild your blood!
When our youngest started school, he had to have a complete physical. He sried and screamed about having blood drawn. Afterwars, we ask him if it hurt that bad and he said, "NO, I don't want them to have my blood. I want it back!"
We told him to eat his green veggies and his body would rebuild the blood. He was satisified and you should have seem him eat all his veggies! :)
