Here is something anyone would love!.....read it and see how it not only heals many things but has the power to get rid of strep infections...according to their web site....here is a quote

Active Manuka Honey, is harvested from the flower of the Tea Tree Bush in New Zealand and has been researched by Dr. Peter Molan, Senior Lecturer of the Waikato University, New Zealand for the past two decades. Dr. Molan found that Active Manuka Honey seems to naturally destroy strep and staph (even antibiotic resistant MRSA, Golden Staph), as well as h. pylori (helicobacter pylori), the bacteria typically associated to stomach ulcers. Active Manuka Honey is typically taken for 2-6 months for stomach ulcers, all depending on how long the problem has existed.

I like honey, and on those infrequent times when I am under the weather, local honey is always a welcome addition to a cup of tea. Manuka honey has been getting some impressive press lately and I suppose we will have to wait and see if it really is an effective drug. Since becoming a grandparent, I am especially cognizant of what I am feeding to the little ones that depend on me to look out for their well being, and with that said......

What is good for the parent might not be good for their infant children.

Honey (as well as other sweeteners) is also potentially extremely dangerous for infants. This is because botulism spores are among the few bacteria that survive in honey. While these spores are harmless to adults, an infant's digestive system is not yet developed enough to destroy them and the spores could potentially cause infant botulism. For this reason, it is advised that neither honey, nor any other sweetener, should be given to children under the age of 18 months.

And for those worried about sugar intake (not me), or just wondering why it works as an anti-bacterial agent without reading all the hype on the for profit manuka usa website.........

Honey does not spoil. Because of its high sugar concentration, it kills bacteria by osmotically lysing them. Natural airborne yeasts can not become active in it because the moisture content is too low. Natural, raw, honey varies from 14% to 18% moisture content. As long as the moisture content remains under 18% nothing will grow in honey.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cookbook:Honey

I also am an avid hummigbird fanatic and for those that might be inclined to opt for "natural" honey over "unnatural" white sugar, DON'T do it!
Can I use honey instead of sugar in a hummingbird feeder?
Why You Should NEVER Use Honey:
A honey water solution served up in hummingbird feeders can quickly become toxic and deadly. Honey rapidly ferments and also cultures a deadly bacterium. Contrary to popular belief, honey is not "more natural" than the cane sugar that is sold as white sugar. Honey has been chemically altered by honey bees: it is flower nectar and whatever ever else the honey bee ingested, digested, and spit back out again. Honey is nothing like the sucrose found in flower nectar and white sugar.

Again, plain white table sugar dissolved in water in a four-to-one solution is about as close to real flower nectar as you can get.

Hmmmm go figure

I found an article about honey & psoriasis on pubmed. Here's the link;

I also dipped my daughters pacifier in honey when she was a baby and her pediatrician almost ripped my head off lol. She lived and she's a healthy happy 21 year old. :) That said, there is a risk of botulism for infants and it's not recommended and evidently humingbirds too!

We LOVE honey in our tea.

Karen :)

HONEY

Hippocrates himself recommended a mixture if honey, water and certain herbs to bring down the fever. Honey is indeed, is not only very good eating. It is one of the most powerful healing foods we have at our disposal. A single serving of honey, about one tablespoon, contains 64 calories and 17grams of carbohydrates.

And even that small amount packs all the wallop of a small pharmacy Honey we now know, can kill bacteria and disinfect wounds and sores. Countless travelers have found that honey works when nothing else does to end the distress of traveler’s diarrhea. The study involved two groups of children being treated for acute gastroenteritis. All suffered terribly from diarrhea brought by intestinal infection.

Endomorphins have a powerful influence on our mood, memory, learning ability and perception of pain. Endomorphism affect the brain much the way morphine does-and these natural painkillers are non addictive. So honey taken for a sore throat apparently works by dulling the pain. “Honey has the power to make us feel better by improving our mood and think well by stimulating the part of the brain responsible for learning.”

More on honey! it seems everyone likes honey that answered this thread....good...however on toast? at $27 dollars for a jar....nope not me!

I ordered the manuka honey UMF rating 19.8 (they have one at a little lower rating but I figured nothing but the best for P!!! also ordered ointment, hand soap for scalp P, and manuka oil extract! and the honey book! this stuff is not cheap....but I have been having some positive things happening!

this is the USA site....the second link is an article in UK

http://www.newzealandbeauty.com/psoriasis.cfm

http://www.manukahoney.co.uk/
and don't forget the original link in the first post!

I am having some good results with this...I made my own ointment see MI url at bottom of this page and go to alternatives...I give the recipe for my ointment with manuka honey...actually there are two recipes...an ointment and an oil mixture......

I drink manuka honey twice a day in my slippery elm....wash my hair with the hand soap, and apply oil mix or ointment mix (my own or theirs I have both)
for the first time my scalp is clear...... for a couple days now....it is still too soon to call it absolutely clear but I have good feelings bout this! also I had a small detox outbreak of P from glyconutrients and they are fading fast!
Everything else is the same...I did go off SE and AS last month but I'm back on......any questions?
Oh one more thing...I take a baking soda/olive oil bath every night or a dead sea salt bath in the hot tub.... for at least a 1/2 hour...usually longer as I like to read while in the tub.
My diet is still the same as ever...meat, veggies, fruit....juices with my new Jack La Lanne power juicer. supplements......I also have been taking GSE grapefruitseed extract....probably 2/3 times aday....if you want to know about that ask!
here's a link.... I take the Nutribiotics brand because that is what they had at the Vitamin Shoppe and I also take the liquid (mixed with juice) not the pills!

They love honey on toast and right now I am getting so hungry I feel like toasting some whole wheat bread and putting honey on it. maybe I will have it with my saffron tea???????? :D
