Hi,
I haven't posted in a while. I was on Raptiva for about 3 months. I had to go off it several weeks ago due to an ear infection that took a long while to clear up. During this time, about a month ago, I noticed a lump in my upper thigh, deep below the skin. It was a bit painful, like I had bumped it and had a bruise but there was no indication of discoloration (bruising, etc). I asked derm on visit and said he thought it was probably angiolipoma (which is a lump that consists of blood vessels and fatty tissues - benign). About a week later, I noticed another lump, a bit further down the leg. I went back to the doctor and he said the same thing - that he thought it was the angiolipoma, and if it bothered me a lot (painful) that I should eventually go to a surgeon. He said he thought it was nothing serious. He did some blood work, I had an elevation in my white blood count. I injected one time in my thigh when I first started the Raptiva, however these lumps are not in the same area. I went to my internist today to have a recheck on my ear infection. I had him check the lumps and he said that there is no way someone can touch a lump and tell what it is. The pathologist is the only one who can determine this. So, he is sending me to a surgeon and he said he may want to biopsy them. He also repeated the CBC and gave me a flu shot. Like I mentioned, I have been off Raptiva for going on 4 weeks now. I have never had these lumps before, and it seems coincidental that I have them after 3 months on the Raptiva. Of course, there is no saying at this point if the injections are the cause. Has anyone had any new similar lumps I described that are painful while taking Raptiva? I had cleared so nicely before I went off the injections and have flared. Thanks for reading this.
