I have seen posts about a bath in baking soda and olive oil. I am in a bad flare, so my D prescribed Tazorac for 2 wks then NB UVB. The Tazorac is driving me crazy with itching and redness.
My question is how much baking soda and olive oil do you put in the tub? I would appreciate any input. I bought them both today and cant wait to hit the tub.
Thanks,
Denise

I use about one cup of baking soda and pour in some olive oil...never measured but I would say several tbsps anyway.....don't forget to wallow in the tub with a magazine or good good book...makes you stay in longer...at least a 1/2 hour...longer if you can....I then (if really itchy ) take a Benedryl and go to sleep....its been a long time since I needed that tho...at least a year and a half.
When I got the blood allergy test done and avoided the triggers the itchies left!

Hi all , I understand the advantages of using oil baths and I don't mean to rain on the parade ; also this is probably way off topic for most .
If you are on a town sewer system which most of you probably are oil in the tub is just fine .
But ...
If you have your own septic system nothing will cause it to go bad quicker than constant pouring of oil down your drain . I recently replaced the septic system at our home ; the cost was around $9,000.00 ! Oil and septic systems are not compatible . If you are going to take a bath with oil every day don't overdo the oil part ; a little is okay .
And .....
Never pour oils down your drain ; bacon fat , beef fat , chicken fat , cooking oil etc .
Just a little public info . ;)
