The Portland, OR area regularly scheduled January and February meetings are being combined into a special meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 15th, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Please note that this is a different date and time than our regular monthly meetings, and there will be no meeting on February 28th. We will be meeting in the usual place at the National Psoriasis Foundation offices. Doors will be kept open during this time for any late arrivals, and light refreshments will be provided.
We have several exciting events coming up to discuss, as well as some possible changes to when and where our group meets. We also have a number of volunteer opportunities that we need help on, as well as your input on these ideas. Scott Steele of the National Psoriasis Foundation will be joining us for this discussion.
Some of the things we’d like to share and gather your input on are:
An update on Capitol Hill Day, which will be held February 26th – 27th in Washington, DC. At last count, there were 106 members from across the country signed up to attend this event. Several members of our group are planning to attend, and would like to take any input you might have with us to share with your representatives.
We’d like to share some of the upcoming plans and goals of our Support Group Network, as well as getting ideas and suggestions from the group. These include a possible change in the place and time we hold our monthly meetings in order to make them the most convenient for the majority, what sort of activities we would like to see our network plan to increase awareness and membership, and any volunteer opportunities that you would like to become involved in.
Your input and help on these issues is very valuable and needed in order to make our group shine, and be successful! If you are unable to attend this meeting, please email your ideas to us at portlandpsg@hotmail.com.
We’re looking for more leaders and advocates to help us grow. Please be thinking about any ideas, areas of interest, or contacts that you may have that you might be able to share with our group. We understand that most of us have a limited amount of time that we can commit to volunteering, but the more members that get involved, the easier it becomes for all of us.
We’re working with the National Psoriasis Foundation staff to host a local premiere of the documentary film, "My Skin's on Fire", by Fred Finkelstein. The date has now been set for March 28th at Oregon Health Sciences University. The time and address should be posted on our website in the next week or so.
