Any recs would help. I have already seen Dr. Gross in Fairlawn and am currently being treated by Andron in Englewood. I have an appointment with Sacarro in Rochelle Park, but would like other suggestions. I am looking for another opinion.
Many thanks!
Christine

Hi Christine,

Would you be willing to go to Essex or Passaic Counties? The reason why I asked is that my rheumy is in Livingston and Flakey Matt's rheumy is in Riverdale. (Matt doesn't post very often these days so he might not see your plea for help, so I'm going to repond on his behalf.)

My rheumy is right across the street from Livingston Mall, in St. Barnabus' "Ambulatory Care Center". (The thing that I like about St. Barnabus' facility is that it allows for "one stop shopping" so to speak. The lab for the bloodwork is across the hall and the x-ray department is downstairs. My rheumy doesn't take insurance, but everything else is billed through St. Barnabus' billing system.) I like my rheumy a lot. I was referred to him by my derm. Here's his name and contact information:

Elliot D. Rosenstein, MD
Center for Rheumatic and Autoimmune Disease
200 South Orange Ave.
Livingston, NJ 07039
(973) 322-7400.

FlakeyMatt's speaks very highly of his rheumy. Her office isn't that far from Willowbrook. Here's her name and contact information:

Larysa Zaputowycz, MD
North Jersey Center for Arthritis
44 Route 23 N Suite 15
Riverdale, NJ 07457
(973) 831-1818.

I hope this helps.

Mike

Not sure of Rheumy's in Bergen, but...... if you want the "guru" of Rheumatology, he's in Jersey City on the Water Front. His name is Robert Lahita,MD, Phd. He's Board Certified Rheumatology, Hematology. He has two books out-one of which is called "Women and Auto Immune Diseases. I happen to know him very well, he's very knowledgeable, very charismatic, very very patient freindly. He is also the Emergency Services director for NY/NJ and was our director on the waterfront (exchange place) when 9/11 happened. I worked under him.

He moved his practice from Saint Vincent's in NY to NJ last year.

Last year my own rheumy(here in PA) sent me for a second opinion to him. My doctorwas amazed to know that I knew him, and told me that in Rheumatology, "Bob Lahita is the specialist". He's well regarded nationally as well as internationally. If you don't mind traveling to JC, it's a straight run for you right from the NJ Turnpike. He's a bit behind where the Holland Tunnel is in the newly developed area. I really enjoyed him, and learned alot.

Hope this helps. If you want to locate him call 411 and ask for the Liberty Medical Associates.

Hi, Christine,

I've heard good things about Dr. Lahita...but I go to a rheum. in NYC at the Hosp. for Joint Disease. Let me know if you are interested in traveling into the city.

P.S. Thanks for sharing this Elaine. Even though I like my rheumy very much, I may switch to Dr. Lahita. He's much closer to me. (I can actually walk. Don't laugh. I've walked to Newport Centre from my apartment. Thanks, again.)

Im glad I was able to help. I love Bob Lahita, he's one of the absolute best scientists I've ever met. He will give her what she needs.
