Hi Jason,

I currently am on Arava after being on Methotrexate for a while then Imuran. I could not handle all the side effects from the MX and switched to Imuran. I was still battling tremendous fatigue and trying to work full-time, so the doctor switched me to Arava (I also use Enbrel 50 mg 2x's wk).

The Arava does not create as much fatigue as the other two, but I'm not sure if I'm getting as good of a response either. It might be the Enbrel that's stopped working - who knows with this crazy disease?

Are you considering taking Arava or already on it? One thing to consider if you are of an age to have children - Arava stays in your system for up to 2 yrs after taking it and has to be removed with other medications if you wish to have children. Be sure to read up on it before you agree to take it. This was not a concern for me.

I was on Arava for a short while after MTX caused my liver enzymes to shoot up. I don't remember anything bad about it, except that after a few weeks my liver went crazy again. I'm now on Immuran and have been for just over a year. Sorry I'm not able to help you more.
