taking pills

When I was on 3 pills (7.5mg) of MTX a week it made me very tired the next day. Now I have been put up to 4 pills (10mg).
Just wondered if it made any difference if I took 2 pills one day and 2 the next, or do I have to take all 4 the same time?

When I was taking mtx (I don't any more because I couldn't stand the side effects), I took my pills over three days. This helped a little with the headache, nausea, the general yucky feeling. Be sure to check with your doctor first before doing this. Good luck!!

You should check with your doctor. My doctor always said that I didn't have to take all the pills at the same time but I did have to take all of them on the same day. Son't forget to take folic acid!! It really does help keep the side effects under some control.

My dr. has me take two in the morning...two that night...and two the next morning. I have heard of some that take them all at once but I have never tried that. Actually the dr. had me set up to take it at 9:00 in the morning and 9:00 at night but I find I need to do it with food so take it earlier.

Some days the nausea is more than others. Don't know why. I DO take folic acid the other 5 days of the week.

My doc says all pills must be taken in the same day. I take all four in the am. I used to be on 20 mgs so I would take four in the am and four in the pm. Yes to the folic acid and I also take Leucovorin the next day. MTX Friday and Leucovorin on Saturday. I hate MTX. Usually I have a day of nausea, vomitting and exhaustion due to the MTX. Often it is about two days after I have taken the yucky pills... that's what I call them. Talk to your doc. Adjustments can be made in your dosage.

I started off taking my MTX in the morning and then suffered all day with the side effects. Then I realized that if I took them at night I could sleep through a lot of the yuckiness. I had to time it just right. Take the pills and be in bed asleep within a half hour, or I'd suffer all night.
