I am a new member diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis in August 2005. This is the greatest spot I have just found to talk to people with the same issues. On Methotrexate and have had three shots Humira. Ouch but feeling way better. Anyone out there having Carpal Tunnel Issues from increased inflammation from PA?

The only "Carpal Tunnel Issues from increased inflammation from PA" thus far has been the swelling in that area after repititous moving, like raking leaves. I was given a wrist band thing to use for that sort of thing. I don't know the relation to the PA though.
What I hate the most is the "sausage finger" pain. This has substantially decreased since I started the Remicade infusions.
Do you do your own injections or do you go to a center? Have you told both your derma and regular Dr. about this pain?
What do they say?

I go to my Rheumatologist for the shots of Humira. I don't have sausage fingers I don't think, but the middle joints on fingers hurt. Baby toe joint was bad and I was favoring. That is gone since Humira. I was starting to get Carpal tunnel, but the inflammation from PA puts more pressure on it so I am seeing Orthopaedic Surgeon this week. I'm not putting it off. Get it overwith and feel better.

Welcome to the boards. I am a new member as well.

I have the 'sausage' digits (i.e. dactylitis) that you guys are referring to. Both of my index fingers are swollen and very painful. I don't know if this is PA related or carpal tunnel. My doc says it is definitely not carpal tunnel and I am waiting to get an appt with a Rheumy to see about PA.

I am on the computer all day as well and it seems the repetitive motion must be affecting my fingers...

I read an article that you can be biologically predisposed to getting PA but never get it unless an environmental factor is in play. Examples are trauma to the joint and repetitive motion. I figure the repetitive motion is making my PA kick in since I have psoriasis; especially under my toenails.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Yes had nerve conduction velocity testing done and YES I need to have surgery on both hands for Carpal Tunnel. Oh Joy. Going May 12. I never thought about how much I use my hands for until I new I would only be able to use one for a couple of weeks. Oh I can hear the teens complaining already. Oh well I will be tough mom and they can just help me. Poor babies.
They'll get over it.

Anyone else had the surgery and whats recovery like??

Thanks
Sue
