This sounds like it might be very interesting to watch... so sad that she died so young, after what she'd been through already with her husband.

My PBS station aired the program last night. It was very good. Had lots of discussion regarding living with chronic pain; the anxiety associated with a chronic illness; the emotions involved in feeling disfigured and the need for hope. Good show to watch if your PBS station is playing it.

I do think that visualization and peaceful thoughts are important to healing; however I don't want doctors to tell me to meditate. When I was at the peak of my Von Zumbush flare, it was on a Sunday. My internist had told me to go to hospital and get admitted if I got worse. I did go, and the physician explained the concept that she had seen with respect to the Buddhist monk's ability to get their brains to release healing chemicals. Well, in this PBS show, those who could had over 10,000 hours of practiced meditation. I didn't have 10 hours much less 10,000 hours and no amount of meditation was going to get me out of that crisis. That doctor told me to stop taking all my medications and to just go home and meditate. I did go home and continued to take the prednisone and use steroid ointments because my FORMER dermatologist couldn't fit me in for 8 days. Truly, by the grace of God, I lived through that.
