I'm looking for a good dermatologist. I haven't needed to go to one in years b/c my p was gone for a long time but pregnancy caused it to flare up pretty badly (Odd because most women clear up, not me!)

Anyhow, just wondering if any of you have a derm who really LISTENS to you and what you'd like to try. This guy pretty much shoved a new scrip at me and sent me on my way. I'm going to try it for a month but if it doesn't work I will probably try to go to someone else.

Thanks!

Good Morning Sunshine :D (well, evening's more like it, but I couldn't resist!)

Although I have never lived in Vegas and can't give a personal reference to a derm, the Foundation's Physicians Directory (http://www.psoriasis.org/treatment/directory/) may be useful in finding a Derm that has his/her psoriasis patient's best interests in mind.

Good luck!

I live in Las Vegas and I see Vanessa Benes at the Las Vegas Skin & Cancer Clinic. I am undecided so far as to exactly how much I like her, but she definitely listens and is compassionate. I just hate how I ALWAYS feel like doctors are rushing through my appointment, and I'm definitely not some long-winded talker or anything. I usually just have a few questions/concerns that go unanswered, and it's frustrating.

I've only met with Vanessa twice, and she put me on light treatments pretty much as per my HMO's requirements, which SUCKS because I've already been through it once, and it did nothing for me, and it's a huge hassle. But once I'm through this, it seems like she'll be good to work with.

How did you manage to clear up the first time? Feel free to PM me to talk about docs or whatever! :)

Thanks guys....
LateGreat....I went to Dr. Del Rossi with LV Skin & Cancer and he was the guy I wasn't impressed with. Maybe I will check out Vanessa....I don't need to tell her my whole life's story with it, only what I know what typically has worked and hasn't.
To be honest, I pretty much "grew" out of my p....I got it when I was 8 and around high school age it started going away on its own...not sure why. The only time I had problems with it after that was when I lived for a short period of time in Oregon (very humid) and then when I got pregnant...that was it! Very odd...

Von...if I ever need a German Rottie, I'll look you up, LOL! :D

Cordid...thanks for the site, I'll check it out...

Hi there,
I live in Vegas too. I am presently seeing Steven Hawkes at LV Skin and Cancer Clinic. The guy is actually useless in my opinion but he will write perscriptions for whatever I ask for. I act as my own Dr. really. Google is definately my best friend!

About 8 months ago, I started on Enbrel. I am in my early 40's and have been 25-75% covered since my early teens. In less than 2 months after starting Embrel, I was 90% clear and today is 95%+ and getting better every day. It has been a godsend!

Good luck finding a good doctor but no matter what, do your own research.
