The last issue of the foundation's newsletter featured an article on summer camps for children with psoriasis. Camp Wonder is organized by Children's Skin Disease Foundation (www.csdf.org) which was started by a 16 year old named Francesca. In April, Francesca will be a recipient of a "Do Something" 2006 BRICK Award.

On their web site there is a poll to determine which of the winners will
receive an EXTRA grant of $5,000 to go toward their charity of choice.

************************************************** **************

PLEASE VOTE FOR FRANCESCA at www.dosomething.org.

Go to the top left of the screen to Instant Poll and click on Francesca.

ANYONE CAN VOTE. YOU CAN VOTE MORE THAN ONCE.

Who am I?? My name is Diane Lewis and a few of the regulars will recognize me from real world contacts. (I've never really used the boards, so excuse the fact that "my first appearance is as a request". I don't mean to be rude.:)) However, I know that there are a lot of snake oil salesmen and scams and bs on the internet. So...for those who care to know...I am a long time member, volunteer and advocate of the National Psoriasis Foundation. I ran a support group, testified in front of the FDA, lectured at several national conferences and have appeared in newspaper articles and documentaries about psoriasis. Currently, I volunteer each summer as the Arts and Crafts Director at Camp Wonder in Livermore, CA. It is a FREE week-long camp for children with severe and terminal skin diseases.

I thought that I would turn to the "NPF" online community and ask for your support. I know that you probably get forwarded emails practically everyday asking for some kind of donation with pledges that this is real.

Well, this one is real. I don't need money. All I need is 10 seconds of your online time. The extra $5000 will help so much.

Thanks for your consideration.

Diane!

How great to see you posting! (She probably won't remember me, but I had the pleasure of meeting Diane several years ago when she spoke at an NPF fund raiser in New York. Everything that she says about herself is true.)

I had the pleasure of meeting you (Diane) in San Diego at the conference. I'm sure you don't recall as there were SO many people. However, you touched me with your story. You're in Fred's documentary as well, correct?

Francesca has my vote and I'm sending this link along to my family and friends to vote for her as well.

Take care and thank you for the information.

Jen ;)

In the other thread, Paul posted on how to deal with the "cookie problem" so we can vote early and often for Francesca. Here's a copy of Paul's post:

If you go to your tools-internet options-privacy on the left hand side you will see a button marked sites. click there and enter in the URL. http://www.dosomething.org and then click block. This will block only cookies from that sites rather than clearing all of your cookies for passwords or other sites such as NPF.

Then vote like a crazy person.... :DSource: http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?p=229056&highlight=click+block#post229056.

Thanks, Paul! It worked like a charm!

The bad news is that Francesca still only has 8% of the vote! That's not a good thing.

Back to voting!
