The last issue of the foundation's newsletter featured an article on summer camps for children with psoriasis. Camp Wonder is organized by Children's Skin Disease Foundation (www.csdf.org) which was started by a 16 year old named Francesca. Children with psoriasis and other skin diseases get to have fun with eachother for free. In April, Francesca will be a recipient of a "Do Something" 2006 BRICK Award.

On their web site there is a poll to determine which of the winners will
receive an EXTRA grant of $5,000 to go toward their charity of choice.

**************************************************

PLEASE VOTE FOR FRANCESCA at www.dosomething.org.

Go to the top left of the screen to Instant Poll and click on Francesca.

ANYONE CAN VOTE. YOU CAN VOTE MORE THAN ONCE.

Who am I?? My name is Diane Lewis and a few of the regulars will recognize me from real world contacts. (I've never really used the boards, so excuse the fact that "my first appearance is as a request". I don't mean to be rude.) However, I know that there are a lot of snake oil salesmen and scams and bs on the internet. So...for those who care to know...I am a long time member, volunteer and advocate of the National Psoriasis Foundation. I ran a support group, testified in front of the FDA, lectured at several national conferences and have appeared in newspaper articles and documentaries about psoriasis. Currently, I volunteer each summer as the Arts and Crafts Director at Camp Wonder in Livermore, CA. It is a FREE week-long camp for children with severe and terminal skin diseases.

I thought that I would turn to the "NPF" online community and ask for your support. I hope you don't mind me posting in this section (I also posted in conversations.) But this has to do with children and psoriasis, so I thought it appropriate. I know that you probably get forwarded emails practically everyday asking for some kind of donation with pledges that this is real.

Well, this one is real. I don't need money. All I need is 10 seconds of your online time. The extra $5000 will help so much.

Thanks for your consideration.

I voted about 25 times. We really need to get people voting if we want her to win. Advice for all: If you turn OFF your "cookies" then you can vote every time you open the window. Or you can just keep hitting "back" on your browser and vote repeatedly.

good luck!

If you go to your tools-internet options-privacy on the left hand side you will see a button marked sites. click there and enter in the URL. http://www.dosomething.org and then click block. This will block only cookies from that sites rather than clearing all of your cookies for passwords or other sites such as NPF.

Then vote like a crazy person.... :D

Paul - that worked perfectly... I was trying to figure out how to only clear this 1 cookie.

I had no idea how to vote over and over again. It was driving me nuts!! This is the exact reason that I turned to the internet psoriasis community. :) You guys never fail to respond and turn out. Plus there is always good advice...even if not clinically tested. lol

All right artbird I just posted this in the complementary and alternative forum.
I also posted how to continue voting! hope this helps....

I visited the campsite a week or so ago (just by chance....in checking out places)on the net and was awed by the site! I wish I could do more....but I will make sure my next check to the NPF allots part of it to the camp....last year I gave a bit to the Washington travelers for CHD...this year I was broke! :( (new septic system and new furnace and air ...all at once  )

I belong to several health forums so will also post the info there.....hope we get the $5,000 :D

I have voted numerous times and sent out an email to everyone on my email list....why doesn't the 8% change? I know others are voting also and it hasn't changed one bit ......

Her tally doesn't seem to change at all!! It is more annoying than spending all that time and money on topicals that don't work. lol But I do appreciate everyone voting.

Also, Mike, of course I know who you are. :) I have a great photo of you from NYC. Did you ever get it? If not, let me know how to mail it to you via this site or whatever.

Hi Diane!

About time you joined us here, and that is a fabulous first post!! Welcome to the Forums ( I get the irony there ).

Have voted as well, please let us know how we can help to make that count get taller. This is one community that supports its own, you sure came to the right place!

See you in August.

Anyone know an easier way for Apple users to remove cookies? (I keep jumping back and forth between sites and using the security option in Safari...)

hey hey - now the #'s seem to be going up! Who knows, as long as they keep on increasing!

I think we tried foxfire a couple of years ago, and we kept on crashing (might it have been a beta version?). I dunno, I kinda figure computers, like cars, are my husband's domain...too lazy to bother my pretty little head with those complicated thingies (think I hear my husband laughing his head off over THAT one in the other room!)

I vote several times, several times a day and noticed the % went down to 10% from 11% I sure don't understand their voting procedure...but I guess if someone else gets more votes it deducts from others?

Is voting over?
I can't find the poll anymore but she got my 100 votes the other day.

It looks like voting ended. Watching the percentages over the last few days was a chapter of "what in the world" cause the numbers were crazy!! The leader went up to 60% with very little for anyone else while the next day the same leader was down to 20% with distribution to everyone else. And then *poof* it is gone and no winner declared.

Thanks to all that voted.

********************************

Dear CSDF crowd,

Francesca Won!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you for your overwhelming support. (Online Poll was
inaccurate)

Thanks to everyone who voted (and re-voted). This is all the information that I have. The extra $5000 will really help since all of Camp Wonder is free for the kids. :) :) :)

That is so cool. Although I kept voting (like 30 votes, 5 times a day) I did not think we had a chance because of the online poll numbers.

Left Click, Backspace, Left Click, Backspace, Left Click, Backspace, Left Click, Backspace, Left Click, Backspace, Left Click, Backspace.....Repeat as necessary..

Yes.... :p

If she gets to make a speach or something I have to see it....

Great job guys. We worked hard on this one..... ;)
