Hey everybody.... I don't know if all of you are aware of it, but May is arthritis awareness month. SO, with that being said, I'm participating in the Indianapolis walk on May 20th. Go to arthritis.org to find a walk in your neck of the woods. But if you aren't that motivated and still want to do something, I have a website set up for information and donations with links to the national effort. Feel free to take a look and maybe we can get a cure in our lifetimes!

P.S. If anyone feels like this is inappropriate to post here because it mentions a fund-raiser (for arthritis) let me know and I will remove the post. I just thought that it concerned a good number of us and if nothing else, might motivate people to seek out walks in their own areas.
Still, the offer stands.

Erik!

Don't remove the post, last year we had someone walk. There were only a few from the boards who donated though.

My friend who has AS is walking this weekend in the Boston area as well. I'm supporting her and I will support you ...just don't look for mega-bucks lol.

I hope to see a program " walking for psoriasis " in the future. Right now I could probably jog lol. Well, I'd like to think so anyway. Going away for the weekend so walking for any cause isn't an option for me, unless it's walking to dinner :) .

Thanks for doing this I think it's great. Go slow and drink lots of water too!

Take care,
Karen

Well, hopefully I should be able to actually walk by that weekend. I have no insurance until May 10th due to my getting downsized in Feburary, and the new job taking 30 days for the insurance to kick in. So, its been about 6 weeks since my last Humira injection. If I get it on the 10th, I should be all set to go for the walk on the 20th.

All,

At the screening for Fred's film Teri King? From the Foundation talked about organizing a NPF walk here in Dallas sometime in the fall.

I personally will go on a NPF limp for p/pa since my walking is somewhat off these days :D

Well, my total raised is up to $215.... not bad for two days work from my office chair. Also, I got the local big radio station (I know a DJ) to post information about it on their website with a link to my page.

I'm really getting into this!

Well, I'm $10 away from the halfway mark to my goal!!! I've been really impressed with some of my friends (and disappointed by some others), but that's not important. Every dollar counts!!!

Oh, I really can't wait until I can pick up my humira next Wednesday. Its odd. When my arthritis started, the feet and hips were the WORST... this time after being off of Humira for six weeks, the back is the absolute worst. I don't get it. Even sitting is uncomfortable. WHY ISN'T THERE A CURE YET!

WHY ISN'T THERE A CURE YET!

The researchers are workin' on it Erik. The great part of all of this is that your out there walking/hobbling for a good cause. monies will be raised leading to more research.

You too Robert! What a great model for the rest of the community, maybe this can go system wide if it's a success!

Kudos to you both!

The arthritis walk in my city is May 13th. I just happened to meet up with a co-worker on Friday, who was hit with autoimmune disease in 1996 when I also got it. We used to compare ANA titer readings. We were discussing medications and things, and I mentioned the walk. Neither of us feel well enough to do the walk, but we agree that a contribution to arthritis research is a contribution for all autoimmune response research, and so we agreed to do that. We are fully aware that our immune systems could decide at a whim to begin to attack our joints. We both have a little bit of arthritis now. Not everyone of course can be there, but I hope everyone finds a way to help sponsor those who can do the walk.

Amen to that. Sorry you guys won't be able to walk. Hopefully by then I'll have another injection and be good to go. I'm still encouraging everyone out there to make a donation if you're so inclined. Its a cause very near and dear to all of our hearts!

This will be my second year walking, hope the weather holds out! Last year it was cold and rainy...not pleasant for people with arthritis or psoriasis, but many people did attend. Hope the funds are used correctly for research and patient education.

Hi,

Where in NY to you walk? I'm from NY, from upstate, outside of Rochester. I wonder if there will be a walk around here?

Mike, thank you SO much for the donation! I can't wait till next weekend for the walk. I just hope the weather is better than this weekend. It shouldn't be 45 degrees and raining in May!

You're very welcome, Erik! Thanks for doing this. It really is an imporant cause. (You're right -- there should be laws against that kind of weather in May!)

Good luck. Have fun and thanks again for doing this.

We'll also be walking on May 20th. This will be the 3rd year that there's been a walk in our area and we've participated every year. My 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with arthritis in 1994 and with psoriasis 2 days ago.

Four days left till the walk and $115 left to raise to hit my goal of $500. I guess the indianapolis site has raised over $21,000 so far. WOO-HOO!

I hit my goal of $500!!! Still taking donations if anyone is interested and doesn't have a walk near them. Its never too late to support such a great cause. I'm just proud of raising as much as I did in just a few weeks.
