View Full Version : Internal psoriasis?
Hi there,
I was just wondering if it's possible to have internal psoriasis. I have a small patch in between my bum cheeks which comes and goes, but at the moment it feels like it's inside the anus. Is that possible?

Absolutely, positively it's possible.
It's not only possible, that's just the way psoriasis is.
There's this prevailing notion that psoriasis only effects the visible surfaces of the skin. Psoriasis is throughout the entire body - head to toe, front to back, inside and outside. Your whole entire body is "in a state of psoriasis."
This is why some people will get joint problems. Inflammation of the cartilage between the adjoining bones. They call it psoriatic arthritis.
If people could look deep down inside their body, some would see that areas within them, on various organs and around various organs are inflammed. Their intestine may be seriously inflammed. Perhaps there may not be anything in there that resembles plaque psoriasis, but there may be an awful lot of inflammation and that's what psoriasis is all about, lyss - INFLAMMATION.
So yes, wherever there is flesh or bone or muscle or blood or whatever, there is psoriasis. Even if it you can't see it, it's there. Even the apparently clear areas on the visible surface of your body are in a state of psoriasis. The psoriasis in those clear areas just isn't visible to the naked eye, but if you wait awhile........
Once people understand this, they will then realize why their topical applications are normally a waste of time and money and a monumental failure. You're just chasing spots around. Those particular spots that you apply the topical treatment to, such as a powerful steroid creme, may disappear (for a while), but the psoriasis still remains. The CAUSE of the problem has not been addressed, so the problem remains.

Hi Lyss,
Unfortunately, yes, it's possible to have psoriasis internally. The most extreme case that I'm aware of is Shana Hanson's daughter, Lillian, who has psoriasis in her esophagus. (Here's a link to one of the thread's where Shana discusses her daughter's issues: http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3054&highlight=Lillian+Soriatane.) We haven't heard from Shana in a very long time, so we have no idea how well Lillian is doing.
Several other people -- Lahdove and Paul (pminear) immediately come to mind (but there have been others) -- have posted about having psoriasis in their mouths. We haven't heard from them in a very long time, so once again, we have no idea who well they are doing. Here's the links to some of the treads where they discuss the problems that they are experiencing:

http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19364&highlight=mouth;

I hope this helps.
Good luck. I hope the problems that you are having turns out to be something that is NOT psoriasis and something that's easily treatable.
Feel better!

One of the worst places to have P.. I've found Prep-H cream to work very well...
I get it in my ears, too.. Both places hurt like a mo-fo.. Haven't found the answer for the ear yet.. Suave moisturizer seems to help a lot..
Thanks guys.
Yeah I get it in my ears too and I also have PA, but considering it's winter over here, my PA is doing very well, however it's just the P in those inconvenient places that's driving me insane at the moment. :o
