As many of you know.. I have been fighting for almost 3 years to get disability and hired a lawyer as I was getting ready to have my hearing on August 15th. As I was so sick in the hospital my dad brought in a camera and took pictures of my entire body to send to the judge to show them how bad I was in hopes that I would not be obligated to attend the hearing. My lawyers recieved the pictures last Thursday and they sent a memo to the judge along with the pictures requesting that the hearing be cancelled and that I be approved just on even more evidence that we provided. She stated she didn't know how the judge would react or if he would even review my file before my hearing so it was just a waiting game for a few days... Last night after office hours my phone rang and it was my lawyer. She called and said that she couldnt wait until this morning to call because she had really good news. I immediatly started to cry, along with everyone else in my house. She said the judge got right back to her and approved my case as soon as he saw my pictures and letters from the doctors. For me this is one fight that is over.... I now have hope in the system as I had lost hope for so long because I was continuesly denied. They said I should get an "offical" approved letter in the mail in 2 to 3 weeks and that I was now eligible for Medicare and retro payments back 3 years.... It all happened at the right time because my HUGE medical bills are going to start piling up from my recent hospital visit.... I hate to think that I am actually disabled and that is something that I fight with everyday but I have come to cope with the fact that I do have a disability. There is no way that I could ever work... P/PA and severe MRSA! Thank you all for your continued support through this whole process and thank you to Alyssa Brown and the NPF for their disability packet that really helped the judge and my lawyers understand just how much this disease is devestating to us!

Katie,
Things have a way of sorting themselves out eh? I'm glad that you are finally out of the hospital, and now have been approved for disability. I think the only thing better is if you didn't have p/pa but hey..gotta work with what you have right? Thanks for being such a strong amazing leader. I know others can read your posts and find strength to keep going everyday :)
x0x && Much love,

Wonderful - sounds like a long hard fight for your benefits - just the stress relief alone will be a big help I bet.
Sounds like you have a wonderful family supporting you as well.
Congratulations on everything.

I agree, the system is a joke. Imaging making this person wait 3 years to get SSD. ? as I always said, our government has two speeds " slow & slower " :(
Congrats on you're SSD. case. ;)
Take care.

Let's hope this is the first step in a long path of things that go right for you!
It's been so difficult to hear of the constant hardships you have had to endure. I'm so glad this worked out. I'm sure the judge would really have his hands full if he denied you...those pictures spoke VOLUMES honey.
Here's hopes for many more entries of GOOD NEWS!!! ;)

I just wanted to thank you all so much for all of your support and the beautiful messages you sent me.... It really is a relief that this is one fight that is finally over... Although now I am impatient lol... They told me it would be 2 to 3 weeks before I got the "official" letter and Im already in the mailbox hoping that it is there.. Its great to hear good news but there is nothing like seeing it in writing. My health is doing ok.. I have developed very bad P on my feet. That was the only part of my body that never really was affected. So im struggeling to deal with that. Can't wear socks, Can't wear shoes, Hardly can walk... and to top it all off I had to get a custom brace made for my ankle/foot so I stop fracturing it... How am I ever going to wear that. Other then that... IM ON LOADS of Antibiotics, prednisone, atarax, and other stuff so im taking it one day at a time. I stay in contact with my ID Doctor through email and will see her again next week! She has been the best doctor I have been to in a LONG time.. Its hard to find a doctor who is so caring and compassionate..... Hope everyone is doing well and I will keep yall updated on my progress... Thanks again XOXOXOXO to you all!

Thanks for the update. I am sorry to hear you have p on your feet. I have spent all summer without socks and shoes to help it clear. I hope you find relief soon.
Also, congratulations on the approval for disability, it is one less thing you have to worry about now.
Take Care and keep us posted.

Hi Katie,
So good to hear from you! I'm glad to hear you are improving and that you have a wonderful, caring Doctor.
I'm sure you'll be checking the mailbox to find that letter. I'm glad to hear the waiting is over and that you got approved. My daughter is going thru the disability applications now too, and is waiting step by step.
Take care and post often!
