The psoriasis treatment market is $3 billion a year. That's $3 billion a year for an incurable condition. That means all sorts of legitimate and illegitimate marketeers know this and will be out there in increasing numbers trying to get a slice of this pie. I guess the big money associated with the biologics has focused the attention on P. That's really hopeful. really really really hopeful.

However, the bad comes with the good. All sorts of charlatans and con men will try to sell their secret miracle cures from "eastern cultures" and far away places. They will say that the evil established medicine drug companys are hiding the secrets so that they can keep selling their products to us. Meanwhile off course, they themselves are selling a treatment plan. At best their plan is just a general healthy lifstyle diet.

The fine line for us here at the NPF is when to spread the info to other members.

I suggest that it is only apprapriate to spread info ( good or bad)on any teatment whether from a licencesed Doctor or other alternative source AFTER we have actually tried such treatment and therefore just reporting our personal resultss.

Of course at $3 billion a year we know that we will have many " new community members" whose first post is telling us about this new 100% clearing miracle.

money money -you get the best out of man and the worst out of man all for money.

Here's hoping for more of the best!

I think that attempts to influence us come from all directions. That is why I see a dermatologist and only follow his advice with respect to the treatment of psoriasis. As for general healthy food and lifestyle guidelines, one can obtain this information for free on the internet.

Of course don't forgret all the OTC's we buy that I'm sure they aren't aware of why "we" buy them......

But I don't understand this line in your post....

"However, the bad comes with the good. All sorts of charlatans and con men will try to sell their secret miracle cures from "eastern cultures" and far away places."

Neem oil is a good oil from the east! I use it and their cream all the time!

we have clinicpsoriasis.com that is doing an excellant job of getting people "healed" (or inject your own word) including pictures ...as they say " a picture is worth a thousand words!" And I believe they are from the east!

There are people getting healed/cleared/remissioned pretty reasonably! by using Deirdre's book and diet! book costs a few dollars..... diet is probably the best thing we ever did for ourselves, especially a healing diet! and eating from this diet is a lot cheaper than most!

I have received the best information and help from a dermatologist doctor that gives free consultations....is a leader in P research...a professor at UCLA......
I have printed out her instructions on what to do to get rid of the aggravating factors of P and took them to my doctor, who is implementing the suggestions...

I think we have been fortunate that we have not had spam on this board...
a few have happened but most of us recognize the fraudulents ....

I love herbs. I think diet and herbs used together with and hopefully under the guidance of trained licensed and very experienced derm are the "right" way to go.

What I am against is telling people that drugs and drs are bad beacuse and that all they want to do is keep you sick and make money. Here in the USA, it's all about making money.

Posting positve to me means posting your experience with a given treatment whether it worked or not instead of using the negative of another treatment as the reason your treatment is better. Remeber all medications come with warning labels. We should all know to read and discuss those warning labels with our doctors.

Also, I just think that posting about ANY treatment should be based on the poster's actuall experience, not what they hear or their opinion.

I was not attacking eastern cultures or their medicine , I was just trying to say that con men try to use these terms as a way rationalizing why their product isn't known by us in the west. They use our mistrust and disappointment with our derms as the reason to sell us their wares.

I agree! We should all report what we try regardless of whether it's western or non western. Does it work? Was it worth the money? Sharing is our strength!

I have tried Ostrich Oil (didn't work besides being a good moisturizer but not worth the money), Isotonix OPC 3 (an antioxident, worked great for many other issues, just not p) and now I'm trying glyconutrients... no results yet.

Thanks for that link, Sally, for Dr. Heng (curcumin). Maybe it was you who sent it to me a long time ago or maybe it was someone else, but I couldn't find it.

Hi all,

I am pleased to see this new (or is it renewed) discussion about how, when and what to share with other posters on the NPF boards. Thanks JNKY for beginning this discussion!

I believe that the boards are places where we can and should discuss options and exchange information about P and PA.

I also believe that our discussions would be more focused and hopefully less contentious if we could make some agreements about how, when and what is appropriate to share/exchange information on the "living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis thread." I think that we also should try to label our posts clearly so that readers can quickly see whether or not they would be interested in reading.

Would it be helpful to start a new thread in order to consider these important matters further? What do the rest of you thank?
