HELLO.
I have an appt with my derm in 2 days, my gutate is spreading and this is now way under control. I want to talk with her about systemics. SO I WANT TO ASK YOU THE FOLLOWING (FOR PPL WITH GUTTATE P.)
- HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO CLEAR YOUR G.P. with MTX OR CYCLOSPORINE ALONE?
- HOW EFFECTIVE WAS MTX/CYCLO (in numbers)
-IT'S JUST THAT I'VE BEEN READING A LOT HERE ABOUT THESE DRUGS, I'M AWARE OF THE SIDE EFFECTS ETC, BUT I AM NOT SURE IF THESE SYSTEMICS ARE USUALLY EFFECTIVE WITH THIS TYPE OF P (GUTATE) I HAVE THE FEELING THAT PHOTOTHERAPY IS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL WITH GUTATE, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH, HOW ABOUT THESE 2 SYSTEMICS.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
Whenever i have a guttate outbreak my derm puts me on anitbiotics for strep. Strep frquently can trigger gutate. Afte that he gives me UVBnb. I ahve not had cyclo or MTx yet. Two weeks ago I started soriatane. Other than peeling, I have nothing to report yet.

I am not on MTX alone, but in combination with UVB (for about 2.5 months), dovonex, amcinonide/cyclocort, and folic acid.
I am almost clear now after 4 months treatment. Your mileage may and will vary.

I havent tried MTx YET. Only try MTX wen u wanna be clear for long periods of time such as ur wedding , job interview w/e things like that .Its dangerous on the long term so only take it wen u wanna be clear on important years. Right now im on BB UVB and slooowly clearing, back cleard and now my thighs are slowly clearing .. its been 1 and a half months so try phototherapy 1st den go 4 stronger if its not 4 u. Oral medications such as mtx can make guttate p go away for long periods of time bcuz g.p is easy 2 treat. However be wise with your treatment options are you very desperate you know what i mean? tc... =)

I have had gp on my arms, lower legs, back, and torso, and used Dovonex and it really really helped. I only have a few spots (mainly on my back)(of course I have the normal "white spots" on my arms, etc) left and am treating with Lidex. I also had gone on vacation in the beginning of July with lots of sun and that seemed to help, plus I had an awesome tan!
Good luck!

Thanks. I forgot to mention, I've been through topicals, they just don't help like they used to. Even clobetasol. Only to remove the scales, How I miss those white spots.. Before it was "only" on arms..legs..back..scalp..but now it's also on my face and getting worse everyday and also on my butt (I'm not talking about the "visible" side).. so yes, I'm desperate.
Well the appt is tomorrow..let's see how it goes. thanks
