Hi folks,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of my massive scalp plaques. There is no way that any medication Olux, Clobex, etc is going to get through the plaques and have a chance of working.
I have been using T-sal, and assorted kinds of salicylic acid. I have also used assorted oils, apple cider vinegar, etc etc etc.
Thanks in advance
Rebecca
Rebecca,
I read that you're used oil, how did you use it? I used to find that if I put the oil on at night and than left it in till morning, this really helped to remove some of the heavy plaques. It's a messy process. I used a shower cap and put an old towel on the pillow. It also didn't nothing to enhance my sex life :o

Hi Rebecca,
I'm sorry to hear that you're have such a rough time with your scalp. :( You might want to try using either Baker's P&S Oil or Derma-Smooth/FS. Baker's P&S Oil is available, over the counter, by special order at most drug stores. Derma-Smooth/FS is available by prescription only. (Derma-Smooth/FS has peanut oil in it and can't be used by people who have a peanut allergy.) You use them both the same way. You put them on and leave them on (covered by a shower cap) for several hours. Most people leave them on overnight. They can be very messy to use. (Wear old night clothes and cover your pillow with an old towel.) They can also be very hard to get used to. (Some people have posted here that they stopped using them because they didn't think that they could ever get used to them.) Despite these drawbacks, both Baker's P&S Oil and Derma-Smooth/FS can be very effective weapons in the war against scalp psoriasis.
Here's a link to some additional information about Derma-Smooth/FS: http://www.hillderm.com/questions/questions.htm.
I've never been able to find a website for Baker's P&S Oil, so I'm going to give you a link to a site that sells it online. I've never ordered anything from them, so I have no idea how reliable they are. I'm giving you the link because their description is a good one. Joseph1 uses a metal flea comb to remove his scales! He doesn't post here very often, so he probably hasn't seen this thread, but he's a link to the very old thread (circa 2003) where he discusses it: http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3492.
I hope this helps!
Good luck. Keep us posted.

I second the recommendation for Derma-smoothe with salicylic acid. I put it on at night, cover with shower cap, and wrap my head in a scarf. In the morning I shampoo it out. I don't do this every night UNLESS I'm having a bad flare. When I'm having a flare, I'll do anything to get rid of the tight, irritated feeling on my scalp - like a tight swimming cap. Ugh!

I have used just about all the Rx & nonRx preps for scalp p. Recently, I bought a bottle of the NEW Head & Shoulders shampoo. It has worked better than any of the above mentioned items. The itch & plaques have pretty much gone away. Coincidence? Maybe! I do not care as long as the results continue. The new bottle has "2 in 1" on it & also, "ocean lift." I do NOT work for P&G & also do NOT own any P&G stock. Also, I have had pp for over 55 years!!!!
