Hi all!

I'm ready to refill my humira, and thought of using the pen. I'm wondering if the injetion hurts more with the pen? I sort of like having control of how fast the medication enters my system. I seem to be able to reduce the pain by injecting slowly.

Anyone try the pen yet?

Thanks in advance!

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

I'm on Enbrel. Just started the sure click auto injector 4 weeks ago. This is my first time on a biologic, so I can't compare. I don't know if there are any differences between the Humira and Enbrel pens (aside from the medication, obviously). For me sometimes it feels like a prick and other times I do have a "son-of-a-@#$&%" moment, but it lasts for about 3 seconds. I have only been injecting my thighs as the instructions recommended that area. It says to count to 15. It's usually done before I hit 12.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Victoria!

I was on Enbrel last year. The Humira drug stings a bit more than the Enbrel. I think I might stick with the syringe. Just can control it better.

Good luck!

Nancy,
I too have tried Enbrel but am currently on Humira. I agree that the Humira has more of a burn. The Humira booth at the conference was promoting the pen. I specifically asked about the sting and whether or not we could control the speed of the injection. They said no. So since I can't control it, I won't be using it. I'm with you, I want to be able to slow it down if it starts to burn too bad. And I have absolutely no fear of needles so there's really no need in me switching.

I used the Humira pen and did not like it, the injection site stung (I use the thigh) and was sore for several days ater the injection. I think I will stick with the syringe!

One side note: I inject weekly and was able to get one box (2 ea.) of the pens to try, but the only drawback was that I had to pay the deductable twice because of the two items.
