Ok, advice anyone?

I been on Methotrexate for a little over a year now. I also been on the Enbrel for about 7 months. The Enbrel is not working for me for the p and not very well for the pa. The MTX will only work for the p really well if I stay on a 25 mg per week dose. I currently take 15 mg per week to keep the p at least somewhat away, my derm wants to raise it again but I am trying to avoid it. My derm is giving it two more months on the Enbrel, then wants to try Humira. I read at the Humira site, but dont see where it says it will help the p also. Since MY main goal in life is to get off the MTX, because that is the one that I think makes me so sick and so tired, can anyone tell me if they have had any luck with the Humira clearing the p along with helping the pa? I sooooooooooo miss my active life full of dancing and hiking and am so ready to get back to it if possible.

Any help is appreciated! :)
Thanks, Becky

Hi Becky,

I think that Humira is having a good outcome in clinicals with psoriasis, you should see reports coming out soon.

I have a few friends that have done beautifully with it with both thier psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Good luck, feel better.

Hi Becky:

My son has p and pa. He was on MTX and Enbrel as well, pa was helped a little by Enbrel, MTX did nothing for either. He switched to Humira, pa is great and except for a couple stubborn scalp patches his p is also clear. Humira has done wonders for him!

Becky - welcome to the boards. You've found a great place with tons of useful information and the people are great too.

I am currently on Humira. I began taking it in May due to a recent diagnosis of PA. However, I have severe P as well. I had tried Enbrel in the past and was unsuccessful with it clearing my P. Therefore, I was skeptical as to whether Humira would work for my P or not.

Prior to starting Humira I had been on Raptiva. My doctor and I determined it best to have a 4 week washout between the Raptiva and Humira. I have documented pics of the rebound I experienced in this thread: http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20020 The rebound I experienced was awful to say the least. I was covered from head to toe with many different forms of P.

I'm happy to report that since beginning Humira, I am about 98% CLEAR!!! The P I have is so minimal that it's not even noticeable.

So what I'm trying to say is, for me, Humira has worked GREAT for my P as well as some relief from PA.

Feel free to PM me anytime if you have any questions.

Take care and good luck,
Jen ;)

thanks so much everyone. It sounds as if Humira might end up being my answer to the MTX also. As bad as the pa is, I can deal with it better than I can deal with getting the p back like I used to have it, which covered about 90-95% of me with plaque and guttate and was crazy. So your words are very encouraging, now I want to start the Humira right away, but guess I gotta wait the two more months. :)

sparklingfire - That was a real bad outbreak for you, I am real happy to hear it is doing much better!!!!

Humria is not yet approved for P, just for PA. But my insurance (KP) allows only Humria to be rxed for P. I Got an execption because I switched from another insurance company and was already on Enbrel. They allow Enbrel for PA (which I also have, which probably helped get the Enbrel approved).
