wanted to post seperate regarding this issue... i was in the process when my pa first popped up 4 years ago and at that point unknown diagnosis made it impossible to get...

well have retried with various others and the short of it is PA makes it near impossible to get, and completely impossible if on a biologic

however if your employer gets disability insurance for employees as a group (>12 people) , then i can be covered, and if worked right this can cover me even if leaving, so something for yall maybe to look into

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I had long term disability insurance through my employer (I assume this is what you are referring to), and I was denied because although my doctor clearly stated I was unable to sit for more than 2 hours, they felt I should be able to work a sedentary (desk) job. I appealed the decision, but was denied a second time (which is all they allow).

I am now in the process of appealing my denial from SSD of requesting a review of the initial denial. So this is the point where I'm bringing in an attorney to help. If I were you, I'd be sure to have at least a couple attorneys review your case. It certainly doesn't sound like it should be automatically denied. You should be able to get a free consultation, and a good attorney usually takes the case only if he thinks he can win, and will then get a percentage of your back payment. The NPF also has good information on how to write letters that will help your case be approved. Please don't give up until you have tried those resources. Good luck, and I hope you can get some better answers on your claim.

well, i am not planning on being disabled but i talked to the broker who would be setting it up through our work, and if it is setup right, you would be ok, thats the biggest thing, generally most policies arent' good enough, but if your boss (and i am in a partnership - advantage) is good enough to help setup the group policy with a broker in favor of PA, then it should work fine, actually doesnt cost much more than otherwise

the other issue, can you do your job? depends on the job and if your doc will say you are disabled, these get more individualized

sorry to hear yours didnt work out too well

i will try to get more info on this, i dont remember all the specific terms that would be helpful as my brain doesnt work well with business/insurance info :)
