So, it's amazing what kinds of weird moments you have ...

In the last two weeks (since my diagnosis) I have seen many commercials regarding psoriasis. Not exactly sure what drugs they are for, maybe one for Enbrel. But anyway, one keeps sticking in my mind. The psoriasisinfo.com site. So I went there today and it's a registration site to get some info.

Then I searched here and found that this commercial apparently has been around for three years?!?!?! I've never seen it before now (or maybe never knew I saw it).

So, I'm not signing up with the site, but I just wanted to let you all know (especially us Minnesooootans up here) that the commericals are airing again and if you're piqued by them, you might want to stay away unless you want to be solicited by a pharm. company.

I've seen Enbrel ads every night for weeks in my city too. What I like about the ads, is that it brings awareness to our disease at no cost to the NPF members!
I still think there is a huge misperception about psoriasis, and almost nobody has heard of psoriatic arthritis. I still get the "perhaps a few more carrots" would help comments; so these ads help me by letting those people know its a serious skin and joint disease that needs serious medical treatment. The ads don't affect my treatment plan. My dermatologist decides that; although Enbrel and Mtx are on the chart as a possible Plan B.

I was just telling my husband how many more psoriasis commercials are on tv than there used to be.

Try this link for a little more understanding about our disease, and sponsored by the same folks that air the commercials you have been seeing. http://www.psoriasisconnect.com I agree that the www.psoriasisinfo.com webpage is way to "in your face" for someone that is just casually, or curiously looking for information.
BTW I have never been solicited by any major pharma company, and I am not sure where your fear or warning of being solicited by them simply from by viewing a webpage is coming from. The commercial is the solicitation, and like it or not commercials are a very legitimate and acceptable marketing tool.

Well, in these last 14 months I have been "indirectly" solicited by pharma for their products; and I had to learn that once you have an incurable disease, you become a $ sign. I've learned to ignore the commercials and the unsolicited advice and rely on my dermatologist, who knows what he's doing. I don't appreciate treatment suggestions from anyone but my physician. I've learned that this is part of "living with Psoriasis"; not only do you have to cope with having the disease, you have to fend off and continually reassure people who don't understand that everything that can be done is being done.

P.S. Post amended for using words that are not respectful concerning treatment plans.

I suppose that because I actually asked for the information by supplying my contact information I did not consider that I have been solicited. I would suggest that if someone does not want to be sent information, that they should not divulge personal information such as what is asked for on the www.psoriasisinfo.com webpage.
I am not sure who to contact if solicitation becomes out of control, or abusive, but perhaps someone more knowledgeable on that subject will chime in and provide some additional instruction.

My theory on the comercials being shown here lately is that your P and PA tend to get worse during the Winter months, hence the comercials being shown now.
As for me, my P and PA do get a little worse in the Winter, but as my Rheumy says to me....... Summer or Winter, " When are you going out on Disability?
I tell him "When I can not push a wheelchair".
I am not in a wheelchair now, but it is probably in the not to far distance.

Thanks,
