Hello Yall,

I have posted a few times, but I feel it is necessary for a formal introduction. I am a 15+ year sufferer or psoriasis and I have been recently diagnosed with P.A.

I have come to this message board to have contact with others who have this disease, and to share information.

We all know Psoriasis sucks. However, I had finally come to a point in my life where I was getting to be "ok" with it. This is when I was diagnosed with P. Arthritis. The Arthritis has completely changed my life. I have been forced to sell my salon, because I can't work as much, and I am having a serious problem holding up in school. (I am a college student) The Arthritis is giving me severe insomnia, and my brain doesn't seem to work anymore.

I won't go through the treatment list, you all know it already through your own experience.
I am starting Enbrel tomorrow. To be honest I am terrified. I am scared of side effects, scared of everything.
But I do know I have to try something- I have gone the alternative route- slippery elm and safflower seem to help. But they are not helping my arthritis.

I would like to thank you all for forming such a great supportive group. I am looking forward to chatting with you all.

MJ

Maybe you should ask your Dr. if it is possible to take these enzymes along with your treatment plan....I've been reading a lot about how enzymes are needed by our bodies to function well.

I wouldn't take them without an ok from the Dr. however...the Wobenzym enzymes work well with the glucosamin, chondroitinm, MSM and Astaxanthin!
there are testimonials on the Wobenzym site that sound interesting (if true)! ;)

here is some info you might want to read!

Good Luck with Enbrel,I finished it in July after a 1 year treatment of it. It took all of my psoriasis away except what was on my ears. My arthritis was pretty good to , I felt like doing more and I was able to wear shorts this summer. It did't take long after I finished though for it to return.A couple of weeks before I was thinking about trying to have Humara approved by insurance I started having neurological symptoms therefore I can't take either drug now. At first the doctors thought the neurological symptoms was MS from Enbrel but I didn't have it,at this time it seems to be unrelated to Enbrel. Good Luck again

Hi Mary Jean,

Welcome to the boards, and thanks for sharing your story with us. PA is a terrible burden on top of p. The good news is that while the biologics can be a bit scary, they are often even more effective for the PA than for the p. That sounds like something you could really use right now.

It is really sad to hear about all of the changes many have had to make in their lives because of these diseases. You siad you had to close your slaon, and are struggling to keep up in school. Hopefully enbrel will give you the break you need to re-claim your life.

I used it for a long time, with excellent results for the pa, and good results for the skin, too. Unfortunately it stopped working for me after a time, and I switched to another biologic ( working well ). But, the change in how I felt was amazing. I hope you have a similar experience.

Please keep us posted. Most folks who are going to respond well to enbrel for pa know very quickly if it is helping.

Regards,

MikeK

Hi Mary Jean,

Welcome to the Board. Nice to meet you. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a rough time. :(

I hope and pray that Enbrel turns out to be your wonder drug and that you can once again get back into the swing of things.

Feel better!

Good luck. Keep us posted. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don't be a stranger.

Mike
