Hi-ya gang!

Wanted to give an update...

First, I think I passed my pre-algebra class (B-, C? Can't do the math to find out for sure ) Thanks for all the encouragement!

The Remicade is working great - had my third infusion a bit ago. My plaques have flattened out and are looking good. I am now on the 8 week schedule, and here's hoping things will stay on course! :D Don't think I am having any side-effects, but they do have me pop a Benedryl & pain relievers before they start, soooooo......

Finally had my appointment with a rheumy this past wednesday! While the Remicade is taking care of my "hit-and-miss" joint pain and fatigue, my right hip continued to be achy. So my doc took a good poke at it and said "Bursitis" - because if it was PA, the pain/discomfort would be more in the groin area and not the outer hip as I am having. So, he offered a cortisone shot and I turned him down... 'till today. I changed my mind and will get the shot today after researching bursitis and treatments. :) In my research, I found that "...certain diseases and conditions increase your risk of developing bursitis, such as: * Arthritis..." so I just inserted P in that risk factor! He suggested PT and I took him up on that at the time instead of the shot. After a night of pondering I figured I will not have time for that once school starts up again, so I am opting for the shot! I am looking into a local school's indoor pool for my own version of PT and to lose weight, sooooooo......

He determined that I have no outward signs of PA, but that has been taken care of due to the Remicade. I've never had the swelling or severe pain so far, but we both will be keeping an eye on me in the future. He seemed impressed with my results on R w/ the plaques, and I think he was suprised when he looked at my lower legs and saw the red areas where my plaques were. I'ma thinking he didn't know how bad my P was on the legs....

So, there it is. :D I'm happy with Remicade, my rheumy and the passing grade! :D

Any thoughts on cortisone for bursitis?

Later kids!

Kim

Hi Kim, glad you are doing well

bursitis/tendonitis may be enthesiopathy or may not.

cortisone shots are a quick fix , but the inflammation may come back if they are caused by abnormal movements, such as too tight muscles, or improper techniques of exercise, so often finding cause and stretching/icing works better long term.
