Dear list, I have been trying to find a good Doctor that specializes in, and/or understands PA in NYC... So far I have had no luck...

(Also I need to find someone covered by my insurance: Oxford).

If you have heard of anyone that is good or have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. I have had no luck at all and have tried three different Doctors already... Nor do I seem to be able to find someone with any special knowledge or interest in PA.

I have just the PA mainly, but I am at the end of my rope with this and about to take Enbrel... This of course is a little scary and I feel like I really need to find a Doctor that understands the illness and the drug!

Thanks so much for the help, and all the best to everyone...

Hi Wschuman,

Welcome to the Board! Nice to meet you.

Would you be willing to come across the river into Jersey? (I live in Hoboken and most of my doctors are in the City.) My rheumy is in suburban New Jersey, but Elaine (Ihurt) speaks VERY highly about her rheumy. So much so that she travels all the way from the Poconos to see him. His office is in Jersey City. (Elaine doesn't post here any more, so there's a very good possibility that she won't see this thread.) His office is steps away from the Newport / Pavonia Path Station. (Take the Hoboken Path train from the World Trade Center or the Journal Square train from 33rd St and 6th Avenue (i.e, Manhattan Mall -- the entrance to Path is to the right if you exit the mall from the lower level next to McDonald's) (You can also pick up Path at 23rd St, 14th and 9th St -- all on 6th Avenue or at Christopher St (near Hudson St.))

Here's his name and contact information:

Lahita, Robert MD
(201) 222-1266
613 Washington Blvd
Jersey City, NJ 07310

Here's a link to his website: http://www.boblahita.com/contacts.html. Unfortunately, his website doesn't indicate what insurance he accepts.

And, here's a link to the thread where Elaine discusses him: http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?p=218924&highlight=Jersey+City#post218924.

I hope this helps!

Good luck! Let us know if you have any other questions. Keep us posted and please don't be a stranger.

Mike
