Anyone out there taking Trexall(new form of methotrexate) for P and/or PA?
I just started this last week and am wondering about others experience.
My derm has me taking 20mg on Saturdays only.
I am told the side effects are fewer than with the original methotrexate.

Any comments on Trexall appreciated,
Lisa

I just started on Trexall last weekend for P. I also take 20mg on Saturdays. So far, I haven't had any bad side effects. I felt tired after taking the drug on Saturday but that's about it. I already see a little improvement with my skin. The plaques are thinning and I'm starting to see some clearing in my elbows. How are you doing? It's been a couple of weeks since you started, have you experienced any side effects?

Hi Kristi,
The only side effects is that the Sunday after I take the Trexall, I am extremely tired - no energy at all.
No other side effects after week 3.
Very little clearing - some of the patches on my hands and elbows are much smoother and less scaly, but the reddness is horrible.
I have scatterd patches all over my legs and so far I do not see any change.
I sure hope there is some noticable change at the end of 2 months! which is how long I was told it might take to work. We'll see.
Feel free to email me later with your results too!!

I just started on Meth. My dermy didn't even mention Trexall to me. However, I just had the worst P attack ever and I must have been 50-60% covered in scaly patches and redness all over my body. I was very itchy and miserable. I work out every morning at a gym and I had to wear long sleeves and long sweats. This may not seem so unusual, but I live in south florida where its 70 d when I wake up at 5:30AM. So I looked kinda weird at the gym. Anyway, after three days, I was practically cured. I've also taken 20ml 1x per week, and after 3 weeks I feel like I'm in remission. My scalp is still not cured, but i've come a long way in three weeks.
What's up with the Saturday routine? Is it required that when you take Trexall it has to be on Sat?

Charlie - you are one of the lucky ones if yours cleared up in 3 days - I'd say thats amazing.
I tried Methotrexate several years ago and it made me sick, so now I am trying trexall -
supposedly fewer side effects than mtx.
Easier take in all one dose - Doctor chose Sat in event that you do feel sick when taking the drug, a day chosen to be consistent I suppose.

I know how you feel - when its temp is 100, I am out mowing my lawn in jeans - talk about hot and stressful!!

Good luck,
Lisa

I am on MTX and have been for 8 months. I just went to my Dermy today and asked her about Trexall and she had no clue what I was talking about. This of course is the county hospital so that might be why or else its so new the hospital does not provide it. As far as getting sleepy That happens with me as well on MTX , indocen and PA causes fatigue in some cases as well I am not sure if my P has has any thing to do with making me sleepy. I have had the feeling of a knive in the back of my head and most ppl have headaches who are on MTX have any of you taking Trexall noticed any other side effects? If anybody has any advice or info on how I can find out more about Trexall please drop me a line. thanks 8)

You can check and Trexall.com
No info there yet, but a phone number you can call.
Trexall is Methotrexate - a newer form
Dosages are not as often so easier to take and less side effects.
I take on Sat and the only side effect is that on Sunday I have no energy.
I am in week 9 of taking this.
