Hi...on my third and final posting of the night. I am 25 years old and have been diagnosed with psa for two years though believe that I have had psa since I was 15. I have had p since I was 7. I was wondering if anyone knew of how to get help in acquring money to obtain medication for psa. I am currently unemployed but on unemployment and apparently "earn" too much for any local agencies to help me. I can barely walk and did purchase a month's worth of celebrex at one pill a day but it doesn't seem to help. Neither did naproxin, indocin, voltaren, relafen, asprin, ibuprofen, tylenol, mobic, or vioxx. There is no way I could ever afford enbrel and right now can't even afford blue cross blue shield. If my legs don't improve I won't be able to hold a job and if I filed for disability I would lose my vehicle and my credit would be forever ruined because I acquire much debt in college not to mention the car loan. Please advise me on how, if possible, to get out of this vicious cycle that I now find myself in. I fell like no one really cares on helping me out. My parents and friends can't afford to help more than emotionally and not being able to be my old self leaves me very depressed and I find myself crying a lot when before I never would. Please contact me at Sunglow21@aol.com if you have any advice that might be beneficial.
thanks you,
Ali

Hi Ali,

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a rough time. :( Here's a couple of quick suggestions, that hopefully will give you some relief:

A lot of people take Enbrel for their PA. It doesn't work for everyone, but, more then a few people who post here, have referred to it as their "miracle drug". As you've probably read here, Enbrel is a VERY expensive medication. The good news, however, is that several people who post here have gotten financial assistance for it. Here's the links to some of their stories:

The people who make Enbrel have an assistance program. Here's the links to to threads where people have mentioned that they've been helped by it: http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10146&highlight=enbrel+amgen (The discussion is approximately 17 posts down.); and http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?postid=77191#post77191. You'll probably be given more specific information (or at least a number to call for more information) if you get in touch with Enliven Service's (Enbrel's patient program) at 1-888-4ENBREL
(1-888-436-2735) (http://enbrel.com/enliven/enbrel-enliven.jsp).
One person who posts here was able to receive FREE Enbrel thank's to www.needymeds.com. It sounds like a scam site but another poster also recieved assistance from www.needymeds.com. Here's a link to their stories: http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3979
Another poster mentioned Patient Services Incorporated or PSI. I know nothing about them, but according to their website PSI specializes in insurance premium, pharmacy co-payment and co-payment waiver assistance. Here's a link to PSI's website: http://www.uneedpsi.org and here's a link to the thread where PSI is mentioned (approximately 12 posts down): http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8955&highlight=enbrel+assistance.
Finally, another poster has mentioned -- in passing -- www.helpingpatients.org. I know nothing else about them, but it couldn't hurt to check them out.I hope that this helps in some small way. I hope that you feel better soon. Good luck. Keep us posted and please don't be a stranger.

Mike

EDIT: Unfortunately, I didn't see Sunglow's 2002 plea for help until it was resurrected by some skanky spammer. I just realized that her post is a couple years old and that I somehow missed her earlier pleas for help. :( Ali, I'm sorry that it took so long for me to post a response. You haven't logged onto this site is a very long time so I hope a) that you're feeling MUCH better and b) that you see this reponse.

EDIT: Thank you NPF for deleting all of the spammer's posts.
