Does P make your hands dry and cracked mostly on the palm of my hands.
Around the nails too the skin is cracked. I also have nail psoriasis. Any suggestions? Hand cream does not work. I'm afraid of the steroid cream and making the skin thin. What else is there?
Thanks Denise

I have p on mainly my palms and feet...most lotions irritate my hands even worse...Dovenex does not work for me and the tar temovates thin my skin to the point where they crack and bleed but I did find that clobetasol propionate ointment 0.05% works very well for them. It takes a few days to clear but my doctor told me it wont thin the skin...I noticed that it hasnt thinned mine but I have only been using it about 3 months. The tar temovates seem to be worst in thinning in my opinion and considering what I have tried. I would really watch the hand creams you were using if I were you, they alot of times make p worse. I think alot of them have perfumes in them that irritate probably along with other ingrediants.
Good Luck!!

Hello,
Although I don't suffer extensive p on my hands or nails - I have read some interesting treatments that people have found effective. One imparticular is on the 'It works for me' section. I copied the important part below:
'He had me soak my foot in white vinegar and bottled water with two tablespoons of Epsom salts. That was 50 percent white vinegar and 50 percent bottled water. I soaked my foot twice a day for almost two weeks, and I found that the psoriasis is gone and my hands have almost cleared up.'
You may want to give that a try. Good Luck!

I am constantly rubbing vasoline directly onto my nails and the surrounding area. I almost lost some of my nails last winter do to the pitting and cracking and have found this to have prevented further outbreaks. Also when cleaning, washing dishes, or anything that involves getting your hands wet for long periods of time, wear the rubber household gloves!!!! I wash dishes by hand and using the gloves protects them. Last winter my hands were unbearable, cracking all around the nails. This year I have it under control. May I also suggest that "Bath and body shop" sells a lotion called Shea butter, I mix this very thick lotion with tea tree oil and apply. It is about $10 a tube and can be hard to find but their website should be able to tell you the nearest store. I have tried other lotions with shea butter in them but for me this one works the best. Good Luck

Denise, I also have trouble with p on the palms of my hands. I use Temovate, but very very sparingly. I have tried the Shea butter from Bath & Body. It works well, but I am a nail technician and am constantly trying new products. I love "Solar Oil" It is made by Creative Nails. It is very rich and has minimal fragrance. That is very important because the fragrance can cause burning. Use a mild fragrance free soap when you wash your hands also. I hope this helps as we can use all we can get!!
God Bless

I have p on my hands and it gets worse by the week! It started on knees and elbows but never really amounted to much of anything so thought I was in the clear! Hah! Next thing I know I have a split on thumb that won't heal and now the entire palm is involved! fingertips have no fat pads and are down to nerves...extremely sensitive! Started with numerous salves, among them Protopic, Dovonex, Temovate. Am now doing light therapy three times weekly and Olux and temovate every other day. So far, just spreading. Anyone have success with something I haven't tried? It has been over a year for the hands and getting very frustrated. Also have some on soles of feet, but am more concerned with hands and the smallest task is becoming almost impossible.

I am beginning to have P. on my hands and the regular lotions make the skin thin. It makes my skin get bruised easily. My dermatologist recently informed me of a Coal tar like creme. I will keep you informed as soon as I find out. Hope it works for all of us.
Take care and best of luck
