Hi,

I am 46 and have P. all over my body. I have tried various creams but they keep coming back. For scalp I tried "Oxipor" and it seems to help.

I was overseas last year and during my stay in Chennai ( India ) it seemed to clear up or atleast I did not have the itch for a while. I feel sunlight does help.
I also stayed vegetarian during that time and did not think about work. I do not know whether these also helped. A local doctor also felt stress can be a big factor is P.

P. has affected my social life. I am looking for support group or people with P to talk with in Maryland.

Thanks

Hi - You don't mention if you have seen a dermatologist. It is usually a good idea, esp. when you have the disease that extensively. Yes, sunshine usually does help most of us, if we dare bare ourselves in public. And stress is definitely a factor, not in causing the disease, but rather in affecting the immune system negatively, so that this auto-immune disease can get worse when we are very stressed. But as far as making it go away - well, that's a different story. Almost everybody reacts differently, and there are as many treatments and success/failure stories as there are people affected, it seems. Usually, when a treatment works, it does so for a period of time, then seems to lose effectiveness. Same thing of almost all the creams, potions, etc. for topical use - they help some, but when you stop, then you get this rebound affect - but each person reacts a little different. Keep reading here on the message board, and you will learn a lot and get a lot of good ideas, as well as the most supportive group of people. Good luck and I wish you sunshine. Rosemary

I have a sometime support group for people with psoriasis. This is in Minnesota. I am curious as to the success of other groups like mine and wonder what you have done to contact others with psoriasis. About thirty people have called in or come to the meetings. We are planning a meeting with a doctor with a new treatment evidently developed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Any information you have would be welcome.
