I've recently been diagnosed with Scalp Psoriasis and have been treating it with Steroid Oils at night and Nizoral Shampoo. It's been effective, but only to a certain degree. I still get gray scales and red marks. Two weeks ago, I began to get some red patches along my hairline and it's been embarrassing going to work. Anyhow, I plan to go to a new doctor for a second opinion.
But, I was wondering if anyone has tried that new mousse called Olux. It's a scalp psoriasis treatment that claims to have relieved and cleared 75% of its patients. Has anyone used this and had success? If you want to find more info on this new treatment, go to www.olux.com.

hello,
I've been using Dermasmoothe at night and Cormax in the A.M. after using normal shampoo's. This has a degree of relief and when I do not cut my hair short it seems to not work as well. I used to use Tarsum in conjunction with this regimen but find tarsum difficult to find. I've never used Olux and will try it since my present regimen is fading in effectiveness. I am probably a novis in the research and developement of what works for me and I will tell you how this works. I wish you well, Brad

Hi
I've used Olux Foam on scalp psoriasis with mixed success. It clears my scales for a little while but then the scales return. It has not done much of anything to clear the red patches under the scale. On the other hand, I apparently have pretty nasty scalp psoriasis as I've been taking MTX since 8/1/01 and it has not helped! I also use Olux Foam on my skin psoriasis (in a rotation with dovonex and tazorac). So far I'm not too impressed with any cream or ointment. But I keep trying. Good luck with Olux on your scalp--it's worth a try.

Thanks a lot for your opinions. I recently got prescribed Olux foam, Tazorac gel, and Neutrogena T-Gel Extra Strength for the scalp. The doctor recommended to try these out for 8 weeks before his next check up.
I'm sure I'll struggle through different treatments like the most of you out there.

I'm using luxiq foam( made by the same people that make olux). I don't feel that it is working. My scalp turns pink-red after application and there is a tingle-burn. Not long after application I feel itching and overall, the scales are not going away. This is in combination with DHS.

I have used Dermasmoothe with great success. The key to using dermasmoothe is to wear a shower cap to bed at night after you put it on. This keeps it on your head where it belongs, and not on your pillow. The bad thing is that you sleep with a we head all night, and this leads to an increase in the number of colds that you suffer from. But I found that it was extremely effective for me. It gets rid of both the scaling and the redness. Of course, like any other topical, as soon as you stop using it, the psoriaisis comes back.
Anyways, I hope that this helps. Good luck!

For my itching head I use a stubborn itch formula 2% coal tar extract with menthol T/Gel. For my hairline redness and scales I use Hydroval 0.2%, a hydrocortisone valerate cream the doctor prescribed me.
I don't use them everyday because I'm worried my psoriasis will get used to the treatments and they will stop working. So a couple times a week for me keeps me pretty clear, depending on what I eat and if i have a few too many beers! I find alcohol is the absolute worst for my psoriasis, especially beer.
I also find that when my hair gets kinda oily, I have an immediate breakout. Washing my hair everyday is a must.
I also found tanning has helped minimize the appearance of the redness on my hairline. I'm not saying it helps clear up my psoriasis, I'm just saying it helps make my hairline psoriasis hardly noticeable, that's all.

Cut your hair very short to allow UV exposure enter the scalp. UVB can work wonders.

I posted this information a few days ago and I got zero response to my thread, so I guess most of you did not use this remarkable Denorex scalp product when it was available. No wonder they took it off the shelves. I'm reposting my original thread on this scalp psoriasis thread, because I, too, have used Olux, Noble One and a myriad of steriod based creams and lotions and tar products on my scalp throughout my 40 year battle with scalp psoriasis and this Denorex Cream was, hands down, the best. (Please note: I have no financial ties to Denorex or its parent company.) Here's my prior post:
I was thrilled when Denorex Shampoo returned -- after a brief absence from the shelves -- and when I visited their website, I found a new product: Denorex Overnight Treatment Cream. So, I ordered it.
For the past year, I have been using the Overnight Cream with great success -- it doesn't burn and the scales just seem to wash away, using the Denorex Shampoo the next morning. I only need to use the cream once or twice in a week and then I am clear for about 7 - 14 days.
I was most distressed when I called to re-order this product last month and was told that it had been discontinued.
The people at the end of the help line said that if enough people called, Denorex might begin production again.
So I am creating this post in case there are others of you out there who want to register a plea to the Denorex folk to bring back this product. The number of the Denorex product hotline is 800 443 4908.
What you do is call the line and they note your name and zip code and pass the request on to the Denorex people.
Thanks for reading,

I've used olux and have had little success with it. It seemed to work when I first started using it, now my scalp p is worse than ever. I hope it does better for you!

I use Olux foam for my scalp P for about 4 maybe 5 nights in a row followed by T-Gel shampoo in the morning. I put the T-Gel on straight and leave it on the red spots and flaking areas for a few minutes before washing it out.
After 4-5 days the red patches are gone and the flaking stops but in another 4-5 days the patches and flaking comes back, it seems like the only thing I can do is control my scalp P using the above method.

Olux made my p worse anywhere I used it..scalp or skin.
The only thing that has gotten my scalp under control is the Psorcure Oil I use from clinicpsoriasis.com. I used to peel big chunks of scales off my scalp and now I don't if I apply the Psorcure Oil on each night before I go to bed.
