blood transfusion

Has anyone ever heard of blood transfusion as a treatment for p? A friend of mine swears that her dad had a transfusion of his own blood and his p went away. This was done in the 1970's ( I have had p since 1974) and I have never heard of it as a treatment.???

Hi - I had an autologous blood transfusion (2 pints) in 1989 related to surgery - didn't change anything for me, but I only had mild p back then. He probably just had a fortunate and timely remission. Rosemary
