1. Has celebrex worked for people with psa?
2. once off of it does it normally work again if given another try?
3. has anyone been swollen from taking it? (ie ankles, calves?)
I would appreciate any and all responses on this. take care.

Haven't taken Celebrex but I use Vioxx (I understand they are similar) and have had really good results. I use it because I enjoy running (probably the worse thing I could do for my body) and has been the only med that has stopped the inflammation and pain of PA. I sometimes stop taking it and start again and it works just as well. Hope this helps a bit.

I take Celebrex. It helps to stop some of the inflamation and pain of PA. I also take MTX and Sulfasalazine but still get swollen and painful knees and elbow by the end of the day. My rheumy says Celebrex only works for about 12 hours (at 200 mg/day). The obvious answer would be for me to take 2 a day but my rheumy does not want me to do that for other reasons. I don't think that Celebrex is causing my swelling--I think that my PA is really controlled by the DMARD's (MTX and sulfasalazine). I have not stopped taking Celebrex since August 2001 so I can't answer whether it works again.

I have been on Celebrex for a year. I take it twice a day and I usually get blood work done at least once every three months. I do that for my own personal reasons. One thing I do know is when I stop taking it I feel stiff. It has not done anything for the swelling but mine is aggressive. Good Luck

Ali-
I was taking Celebrex 2x a day and it did help slightly with my PA. Was starting to have stomach problems from MTX, so Dr. changed me from Celebrex over to Bextra 1x a day. I think Bextra is a newer nsaid??
I also get swollen ankles, but think that is more from my p and pa, rather then the meds.
Take care,
Lauri
