Hello all.
I prefer to get word of mouth recomendations about Doctors since moving to WA. and experiencing the shady Group Health people and their referals. I was looking for a Rheumatologist close to Issaquah if possible. The knee specialist I saw suggested Sue Romanick and Arinola Dada. Neither of which I consider close hehe.
I did make an appointment with Sue Romanick after catching another post (via google search) where someone suggested she was wonderful. But I guess I was curious if anyone else in WA. had a good experience with anyone closer. Which may also allow for me to get a earlier appointment.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

YOU MIGHT TRY
http://ratemds.com/
this is where you can rate your doctors....
but...
also find doctors in your area and how others have rated them.....
I've been looking for a family doctor for my DH and found one a few blocks away with a 5 star rating! (the highest)
good luck with finding what you are looking for...
p.s. you can look for specific specialists but not sure about rheumies!
they also list chiros and dentists

I'm on the Eastside and saw Dr. Dada once -- didn't care for her at all. She didn't really seem to listen to me. I have a fantastic Rheumatologist, Dr. Gala at the Everett Clinic. I drive all the way to Everett to see her, but since it's only every couple of months or so, it's not really that much bother.

Sorry for the delay I got a bit sidetracked.
jdeldrid those words made me feel better about not picking Dada. My knee specialist actually suggested Dada and then Romanick when I asked for a rheumatologist. Although I can't say I felt my appointment with Sue Romanick was any better. As expected was really disappointed. Maybe I had my hopes too high after reading LottieBay's post elsewhere about Seattle Rheum's. And my Foot and Ankle doctor said he had several patients with good things to say about her. I felt she was very cold and strange. Came into the room and stared at me like I was in therapy and she was waiting for me to break into tears. I broke the ice and asked her where I should begin. Never felt so weird in front of any doctor as I did her.
But now that its over, and I officially know I have Psoriatic Arthritis insurance will hopefully approve Enbrel. Since they seem to think my Derm is full of themself. Im still in disbelief that Group Health approved it no problem and I am jumping through hoops to get Premera with Microsoft to approve it. Everyone in Wa. I have mentioned this too also seems stunned.
Anyway I am babbling. I thank you all for the responses and the welcome :)

I see Nancy Shasteen at the Polyclinic in Seattle and really like her. She's straightforward and tells me her "goal is perfection." I don't get the sense of "I'm the doctor so do what I say" from her. She actually communicates with me, takes my feelings and concerns into consideration and doesn't "guilt" me into doing something I don't want to do (for example, take prednisone).

HI Cat79
I have two recommendations for you. I live over on WHidbey, so finding the best rheumy treatment possible is very important. I have seen Dr. Phil Meese and I think he is absolutely brilliant. He is a top researcher in the field of PA. He is located in downtown seattle. He does travel alot and stays very busy. When you make an appointment you will often see a nurse practitioner who has been trained to work with rheumy patients. I thought my NP there was one of the absolute best health care providers I'd ever seen bar none.
I also see Dr. Brody in Bellevue. He has an infusion center where they do their own remicade treatments and they do small joint MRI scans there as well. I really like Dr. Brody. He also has a great team working with him, using Nurse Practitioners who are absolutely tops. One thing that really impressed me with Dr. Brody is he talked alot about rehabilitation...not just stopping the progression of the disease but helping me get some of my strength and endurance back. My Nurse Practitioner there is also tops. She listens to me, keeps good notes and I really feel like I have an advocate.
So, there are two recommendations for you, both good. Dr. Brody's office is right off of I-90 easy to get to. Dr. Meese is near Swedish.
PM me and I'll be glad to give additional information.
Good luck to you!
