Has anyone heard of or used Dermasolve? www.dermasolve.com

I saw the add in a magazine and was cuirous. They say that everything is base on using the "whole egg"??? I thought eggs were a no-no for psoriasis???

You'd think someone would have tried it...with all us folks who are supposed to be so gullable and all.

I love to hear reports on different products too.

Sorry you're not getting any hits.

OK - someone had to try it, so I did.

First some background. I have tried so many of these drugstore, over-the-counter products with little or no success and cortisone/steriods are not an option for me.

I ordered Dermasolve online and recieved it surprisingly quickly (within 4 days!). It's a very thick cream that really doesn't smell like anything. A little bit goes a long way.

My problem is on my elbows and forearms. They recommend using the cream 3-4 times a day. I followed the directions and I only missed a few applications.

I don't have heavy plaque psoriasis, just some dry flakey skin with redness and itching.

In the first week the dry flakes were gone. (This didn't surprise me because other creams have done this too).

In the second to third week I really started to notice a difference in the redness. It was slowly fading and the area was getting a little smaller.

I have been using the product for about 6 weeks now and my wife has told me she thinks my skin looks a lot better. There is still some redness in the area and I plan to keep going with this product.

I'm sure it won't work for everyone - but I would like to hear if anyone else has had the same results as me.

Good Luck!

Mike

What ingredients does the label list?

Oh -- found it. "Active Ingredients: Whole egg, aloe vera, sweet almond oil, vitamins A, E and C."

Hm. Wonder what the "inactive ingredients" are.

How does it taste?

He invented it for his mommie?! Is he a chemist, biologist or an out of work stand up comic or disk jockey? Notice how they say it sold out twice and there are only so many left? Then why is it that you can order on line? Pass.

As I recall that video was a segment from one of the shopping channels where it sold out.

Here's what I sent to Dermasolve:

Thank you so much for Dermasolve. I have Psoiasis in a place where I
> cannot send you pictures without being accused of trading in medical
> porn. My dermatologist went thru 8 different prescriptions before we

> but left me with dark red marks, brusing and stretchy skin.

Laura, this is your first post on the board & incidentally it is a product endorsement.

Yes, this is my first post and it is an endorcement. I wrote the endorsement to Dermasolve and they asked if I minded posting it here. Take it or leave it. Just a person who found some relief and trying to say thanks. Not a shill. Probably won't ever post again, either, so I guess you won't know.

Bye

Okay here's the list of ingredients:

"....INGREDIENTS:
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice / Glycerin / Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil / Ceteraryl Alcohol / Ceteareth-20 / Glyceryl Stearate / PEG-100 Stearate / Cetyl Alcohol / PEG-4 Olivate / Salicylic Acid / Phenoxyethanol / Triethanolamine / Sorbitan Olivate / Phospholipids / Retinyl Palmitate / Tocopheryl Acetate / Ascorbyl Palmitate / Hydrolyzed Whole Egg / Methylparaben / Trisodium EDTA / Propylparaben / Red No.4, Yellow No. 5 ".....

http://www.marenick.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=4

A dimension that I always have in mind is: It is what ingredient which is not listed that worries me.

No quite long ago we read in this forum about OSAS.....

"I'm so bummed about the OSAS lotion"

Heard about horse steroids?

"Warning Miracle Cures"

http://www.psoriasis-help.org.uk/forum/index.php/topic,26418.0.html

Don't want to spoil the party, but I am one who's very, very skeptical about commercial topical "cures" with such ....miracle claims....and with such kind of marketing methodolgy...

May I bring forth this piece of food for thoughts....

"Skincare - beware of the rip-offs"....

http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/womenshealth/features/skincareripoffs.htm

........L'avenir ...... commence avec l'oeuf.....

I myself don't wanna be the .......egg.

Maybe the cure should have been invented before the .......... chicken?

No offence intended.......not even hinting any reference.....

But be honest I won't give a ding.

Tom.

Just judging by the formulation - it's a miss

If the Methylparaben & Propylparaben don't trigger an irritation then at least there always dyes : Red No.4, Yellow No. 5 to push you over the edge.

Why do companies have the add things like these and then top it off with fragrance

Gimme something simple: vanicream or exederm at least they don;t have so many nasties

Never heard of Exederm, will look it up. How's their cleanser?
I used Vanicream for a while but then figured out that Propylyn Glycol is a known skin irritant & wasn't helping my skin. Also, my derm wanted me to give up petroleum based products like Vanicream as they form a occlusive film on the skin & it does not allow the topicals/barrier repair creams to penetrate into the skin.
I now use Cerave Cleanser. It does have Parabens but does not irritate my skin at all. In fact, a lot of NPF members are using Cerave with geat results.

Mimyx cream by Stiefel is roved by the FDA for the treatment of Atopic Dermatitis. It does not have any parabens or dyes. In fact does not have any preservatives at all. It works beautifully in Psoriasis.

You asked about eggs being in the formula. As I understand it, manufacturers are required to list the ingredients in order according to how much of each is present. That being the case, "eggs" is so low on the list there wouldn't be enough arachidonic acid in it to cause an inflammation problem. I believe eggs contain some ingredients that are emulsifiers (help to keep fats and liquids combined). Maybe that's why eggs are in the formula.

As far as the other ingredients go: aloe is easily available (but I don't know of its being particularly helpful for p); glycerin is a main ingredient in many skin lotions; almond oil (like any oil) would provide a barrier against moisture loss; and salicyclic acid has been shown to reduce redness and scaling in p lesions.

I don't see anything wrong with the product, but I don't see anything very special about it either. Just my opinion......

I use Dermasolve by L'avenir for my eczema. I have dyshydrotic eczema, which is really annoying and painful - also very ugly. I've tried everything even prescription stuff, but nothing keeps it away - especially in winter. I saw this product in the mall and tried it. It is the ONLY thing that if I use regularly keeps my eczema away. I've been using it for years. I am waiting for an order now. It's expensive $40+ for a small jar, but one jar has lasted me quite a while - about 9 months. You really don't need to use that much. Do not buy the knock-off product, because I can't be sure it's the same thing.
